Anyone have any insight on how the loads were on the first two flights into/out of BOS?
The first couple of days eastbound it was close to full (a few seats went to nonrevs to fill it up) and understandably the first few days westbound were light but that should be changing.
Shouldn't these be called Northbound and Southbound? Guessing westbound is BOS-BOG and eastbound is BOG-BOS.

Question for all of the Terminal A travelers out here - I hadn't been flying much out of Logan, but recently started up again for work. I was pretty shocked by how busy Terminal A is compared to what I remember. Granted, I have been there at peak times (mornings and evenings), but still. Landing at Terminal A from LGA off the 4:00 shuttle, that terminal was really bustling. I noticed the Seattle, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Orlando (evening) flights all at different gates. Of course, there was a lot of foot traffic for the summer season heading onto LHR/CDG/AMS/DUB.
I suspect DL can't take over the remaining Southwest gates quickly enough. The SFO flights haven't even started yet - that will be another 757 in the evening rush.
I also wonder if they're going to have to do something about security. Arriving for the 5PM shuttle, the pre-check line had at least 30 people in it and the regular security line looked...long. I was at the point where I was deciding if the Sky Priority line would have saved me time over Pre-Check.
Have I just hit a few busy spots, or have you all noticed a sizable uptick in crowds?

I've noticed this myself, as well, but I'm not sure if my observations are anecdotal. My last arrival into A was two weeks ago on a night when 4 DL A321s all arrived from ATL at roughly the same time, and the taxi line was of biblical proportions. Taking operational problems out of the equation, I have also been surprised by the security lines, and have found myself in the Sky Priority line at peak hours even though I have Precheck. (They usually give me a slip of paper which extends some Precheck benefits, despite going through the non-Precheck line)
I'm flying BOS-LGA-MIA on DL Friday at midday, and will be interested to see how the crowds look.

I've been curious about the gate usage - the morning flight should be easier to accomodate and used A17 this morning.
The late afternoon (4:00) flight also used Gate A17. I suspect that Delta would actually like this flight to leave around 6PM, but that they don't currently have the gate space at the time to run a 757 out of Logan. A13,14, 16 and 17 are pretty well blocked off after 4PM for the LHR/AMS/CDG/DUB flights. IRROPs will be...interesting.
chrisnh wrote:Since the 757s being used by DL SFO-BOS are a special configuration, will they just go back and forth between those cities? In other words, a plane going to SFO will always be one that came from there?
tlecam wrote:DL flies those 752 international DL One configuration planes from JFK to SFO too, so they probably have some sort of a W pattern.
That corner by Legal's must have been packed with them trying to board a 752 in the evening rush.

I always dread when my flight goes out of A1-A6. Maybe it's just a perception thing, but those gates always feel so crowded between the flights and the crowd the spills out of the Legal Seafoods in the corner. I much prefer when I have a flight that departs from the concourse. Delta can't get those WN gates back fast enough!

Not bad for those getting to BOS from cities on the Newburyport/Rockport line - just have to avoid the Salem/Swampscott express trains.

IRROPs will definitely be interesting. I find it even more interesting that today's 4pm BOS-SFO is using A3, which is a pretty tight area. I don't think I've seen a 757 there. I would have thought having a 757 there now would have knocked out a gate or two next to it, and those gates on the concourse are really busy at 4pm. Must be a tight squeeze and quite a well practiced dance to get all those aircraft to fit at the gates just right.

Out at the Satellite there is the 752 for SFO sitting at A15 (n717tw) mine is at A16 321 (n708tn) A15 is blocked by the 332 going to AMS at A14 and another (uncertain of type but in Skyteam livery) at A13
Flight is on time, wish me luck for my ATL connection..

Your Skyteam sighting was N175DZ off to Paris as DL 118 (767-300). It came in earlier in the day from London (DL 59).

An interesting thought just occurred to me which is that eleven years ago, much like the Far East market which was nonexistent, the only flight from the Iberian Peninsula was the seasonal, 1-2x weekly SATA flight to LIS. Unless I'm missing something it is my estimation that, after the far and away leaders, NYC and South Florida, BOS now occupies the #3 spot, ahead of ORD.
Though unlike a new entrant on BOS-East Asia, which ostensibly still has room for another flight, at least seasonally, before becoming oversaturated, I'm not entirely sure BOS-Southern Europe isn't already close to that point, at least insofar as yields aren't completely trashed to hell. I extend a warn welcome to UX and wish them success.

Appears UX is already happy with the numbers so far. Remember that the airline is part of Globalia - a travel and tourism congolomerate which uses UX to feed other parts of their business.

Would like to see another Canadian city myself ... I'd take YQB as a consolation prize if not YYC.
Caribbean Forum also has hinted that PAWA Dominicana plans to start BOS-SDQ in 2018. From what I've read on the carrier, they are going to attempt a mini Caribbean hub in SDQ and offer connections to AUA/CUR/SXM/PAP and ANU (via SXM). They also offer connections to SJU which appears to be allowed by DOT. I though MIA-SDQ-SJU would be cabotage.

That is absolutely cabatoge and they'll be fined if they are doing that.

They are - I'm checking regulations.gov to see if there's anything concerning PAWA being able to do this.

There definitley is not anything allowing them cabotage. I wonder if it will actually ticket through, might just be IT.
