Line number 681 was leased by Atlas Air for a freighter conversion for Amazon Prime Air (still owned by AerCap). Its registration is N1381A. Line number 558 was sold by Air New Zealand to aircraft lessor 30 West, marketing the frame and two other NZ frames for sale or dry lease. Registered N830WE, line number 558 is now stored at Alice Springs.

JA8578 (All Nippon Airlines) was retired and flown to the desert on August 29th @SBD. This is a domestic 763 (non-ER) frame. The retirement is a domino effect from a new 789 delivery end of July (JA893A) which resulted in a Regional configured 763ER being refitted to domestic configuration in August (JA614A) which then resulted in this retirement. LN 519. 1993 built. Originally delivered to ANA.

Missed this when you first posted it, but that frame had over 95,000 hours (albeit "only" 15,000 cycles) when retired by AA. When the world 767 hours leader (in Delta's fleet) is around 122,000 hours and will soon retire, it's hard to believe there's a business case for the conversion. But evidently there is.

Awesome job thanks.
Do we know if the next retirement will fly for another operator or they'll fly to desert?

Ex-AA frames have either ended up in the desert or in the hands of CAM for cargo conversion. I believe they are too old and have too many hours/cycles to be of interest in the passenger secondary market.

JA604J (Japan Airlines) looks to have been retired on August 30th and currently undergoing decommissioning @ HND. LN 905. 2003 built. Originally delivered to JAL. This looks to be the second airframe part of the JAL-UPS deal and to become N364UP upon delivery.

Wow, she was so young... :weeping:

I wonder why this never showed up on Skyliner? Also, is JAL planning on trashing the rest of their fleet in the next couple years? late bulid pax 757's and 767 from this period tend to be very undesirable it seems.

Not at all. This was simply a financial transaction. JAL had a handful of young 763ERs in the old regional configuration. Rather than refurb the inside to match its other 763ERs, UPS came in with a sweet deal to buy 3 of those at a good price for cargo conversion. JAL simply to chose to extend the life of 3 of its older 763ERs that were going to be retired instead as those had little resale value in the secondary market due to high number of cycles. Good financial deal for JAL. JAL remains one of the largest operators of 763ERs. That isn't going to change anytime soon.

B-2500 (Shanghai Airlines) looks to have been retired on August 9th and stored @PVG. This would be the first of two frames to be retired this year (the remaining 4 to be retired next year). I believe China Eastern (parent co.) has an agreement to sell or lease these to Okay Airlines which will use them until they start receiving their 789s in a few years. LN 946. 2006 built. Originally delivered to Shanghai Airlines.

VQ-BUC (Azur Air) was retired on on September 10th and flown to @SAW. It is undergoing refurbishment ahead of being delivered to sister airline, Azur Air Germany. LN 591. 1995 built. Originally delivered to Lauda Air.

N150FE (Federal Express) was delivered factory fresh on September 15th and flown to @MEM. This is the 7th frame delivered to FEDEX this year. LN 1130. 2017 built.

N1327A (Amazon Prime Air - operated by Atlas) completed cargo conversion @TLV on September 19th and is flying back to the U.S.. This is the 12th delivery to Amazon this year and 6th to Atlas. LN 637. 1996-built. Originally built for Air Seychelles. Most recently flew for Nordwind.

KMW Leasing has moved around a few of its frames:

N796JM (Dynamic Airways) was retired on August 31st and flown to @GSO for refurbishment/re-painting and was then delivered on September 24th to Latin American Wings @SCL. According to wikipedia, this is a temporary lease until LAW receives the 2x 763ERs it is in the process of purchasing (ex-Air New Zealand). LN 298. 1990-built. Originally delivered to British Airways.

N793JM (Dynamic Airways) was delivered to @JFK on July 23rd as an eventual replacement for N796JM after refurbishment in @GSO. LN 363. 1991 built. Originally delivered to British Airways. Most recently flew for Qantas.

Hello! :D

Any news about S7 Airlines two 763? VQ-BBI and VP-BVH.
I believe these are scheduled for retirement this year. They will be "replaced" by A321 Neo jets.
Any dates for the retirement of these birds or, if possible, details about their fate?

I've heard nothing more than you provide. I haven't seen any pics of the first S7 A321s yet from Toulouse or Hamburg. I wouldn't be surprised if they have been pushed out to 2018 by the numerous NEO engine delivery delays. What remains to be seen is what happens to the S7 routes from Western/Central Russia into South-East Asia. Not sure the A321 has the legs for those.
Cheers

The last performing flight of this aircraft was MIA-DFW on the same day it was retired.

Following the retirement of N369AA, an American Airlines 767-300ER (N376AN) was flown from Tulsa to Roswell on October 3rd. Flightaware hasn't showed the last performing flight of this aircraft.

Surpisingly the American Airlines Fleet page on Wikipedia has actually been consistant on the retirements than Airfleets. Should be atleast 26 aircraft left in the fleet if I'm not mistaken.

What is the schedule for the retirement of DL's last three B763s (non-ERs)? N140LL, N1402A and N144DA are the ships. And are there any ERs due for retirement this winter?

N144DA is currently enroute from ATL>SBD for storage, I assume that as it's several years newer than both N140LL and N1402A, that it's probably due for some kind of MX check, and therefore not worth spending any more $$$ to keep it flying!

FWIW, technically they go to either or both of these places before they go for conversion.

If retired AA aircraft go to BFM, they're usually getting a heavy-check before sale. Then they find their way to the new owner's facility and then to the conversion house. The two 767-300 conversion houses are Boeing (which uses SASCO at QPG to do 767-300 conversions, with a new overflow line at EAT at TPE) and IAI/Bedek (whose facility is at TLV, with a new overflow line at Mexicana MRO in MEX).

So, using N7375A as an example, it went from storage to BFM, where they worked on it for about 5 months. Then, it was delivered to ILN, the maintenance base for CAM (Cargo Aircraft Management). It stayed there about six days, then flew to TLV, where it has been since 9/7/17. If it follows the usual pattern, it should be finished with conversion in early March 2018. Then, it will fly back to the US. CAM usually has the aircraft return and clear customs at CVG, then it will go from there for paint. CAM usually uses Dean Baldwin Painting for paint, so it will typically be flown to one of Dean Baldwin's facilities (ROW, GYR or GUS) to be painted. (Recently, they appear to have used Premier at RME for one job, so that's a possibility as well.)

N374AA is at BFM and will probably follow N7375A's path soon.

ROW is a location that these aircraft are stored by AA while they are waiting to go through the process, and is also a place that they sometimes return to be painted, if they are being painted at Dean Baldwin.

AND...thanks for the info on the retiring AA aircraft. Although they could end up with any buyer, it seems like CAM has taken most of the recent ones, either directly or through Jetran.

Better late than never... Update up to and including Q3-2017 activities:
+13 net additions to active global fleet
[34 frames taken out of service (8 permanently retired)]
[47 frames put into service (7 new builds, 18 cargo conversions, 2 recycled cargo jets & 20 recycled passenger jets)]

Q1- 2017 (Revised) Activity
Image
Q2-2017 (Revised) Activity
Image
Q3-2017 Activity
Image

Since the end of Q3, there has been a lot of activity as identified by others above and summarised here:
> N369AA & N383AN (American Airlines) were retired. 1 more AA retirement to go in Q4 (N373AA) which will mean the end of service for AA7s old cabin 763ERs.
> CN-ROW (Royal Air Maroc) was retired from passenger service and ferried to QPG for cargo conversion. Will remain with Royal Air Maroc post-conversion
> B-2566 (Shanghai Airlines) was the second of two 763s to be retired this year. It currently sits @PVG undergoing de-commissioing before flying to the desert
> N382AN (Cargo Aircraft Management) completed conversion @ TLV and flew to the US for painting. Should become N399CM post painting.
> N151FE (Fedex) was delivered from the factory to @ MEM. 8th frame delivered to Fedex this year.
> N1381A (Amazon Prime Air - Atlas) completed conversion @ QPG and was flown to the US for painting. 20th cargo conversion completed so far this year, a record.
> N144DA (Delta Air Lines) was retired and flown to @ SBD for storage. Final 2x 763s with DL will retire early into the New Year post Super Bowl.
> VP-BFI (VIM Airlines) was retired and returned to lessor (ILFC) @ HHN. Airline is defacto bankrupt. This was the second of two 763s operated by the airline.
> C-FCAB (Air Canada) was retired from service. Currently being de-commissioned @ YYZ. One more AC 763 to be retired before year-end.

While it's sad to see so many 763s being retired, I will (and I'm sure many others who fly AA) breathe a sigh of relief once N373AA is gone. That will mean we no longer have to worry about booking on an AA 763 and getting the old J cabin configuration.

Looking ahead towards 2019 when WS begins receiving their first Dreamliners I wonder if their 4 x B763’s be attractive frames for freighter conversions considering Cargo Management have quite a number of these ex QF frames already.

N373AA (American Airlines) was retired and stored @ROW on 10/30. This is the final retirement for AA this year and also the retirement of the final 763ER with the old J seats. LN 435. 1992-built. Originally delivered to AA.

Original plans showed 6x more 763ER retirements in 2018 for AA but recent rumours talk about a life extension program for the remaining fleet which would see it concentrated @PHL and @MIA bases.

Has N284DH operating for Kalitta been painted over as of yet? Recent-ish pics show it operating with the old blue TUI colors.

Great news on the retirement of N373AA. And even better to hear they may put off the remaining retirements.

What is the schedule for the retirement of DL's last three B763s (non-ERs)? N140LL, N1402A and N144DA are the ships. And are there any ERs due for retirement this winter?

latest i've seen is the following:
N140LL - feb 2018
N1402A - feb 2018
N144DA - oct 2017
N1501P - nov 2017
N153DL - jan 2018

This is a more recent update:
N1501P is going this week
N153DL and N182DN retire this winter
N184DN retires 3Q 2018, likely right after summer schedule ends

N140LL and N1402A were granted a stay of execution and will retire 3Q 2018.

Skyliners saw the former N368AA, now N396CM, going to MIA from ILN the other day, and published that it was going to MIA "for StratAir ops". I didn't think this one was going to Northern Aviation.

My impression was that this aircraft, 396CM, was going to Amerijet, based on pretty-solid first-person info. Has anybody seen it painted? Any photos of it painted? That would certainly answer the question.

Meanwhile, the former N382AN, to be N399CM, is definitively one of the ones going to Northern, and my understanding is that it is dry-leased to Aloha. It will at first be flown by ATI for Aloha, then ultimately be flown by Aloha. It finished paint and is in ILN. Again, anyone got photos to confirm its destination?

N376AN moved from ROW to ILN on Friday, 11/3. It was registered to CAM on Thursday, 11/2.

Looks like it had undergone a heavy check at BFM about 8 months ago before returning to service with AA through early September of this year.

I expect that it will be heading to TLV shortly for conversion.

I'm also keeping my eye on 377 and 374.

N284DH is in full DHL colours. It wears the DHL Air style livery with larger titles and thicker stripes as opposed to the DHL livery on ABX/Atlas 767s.

Thank you for the photo; I have been looking for one of post-paint 370AA for what seems like months. You know, Premier in RME did the paint job on that, and I think it looks pretty-incredible.
