Are we sure that it's not going to Raya? That airline was supposed to get 255CM, which is instead staying at ATI. I'm sure that you (and Acey559, who posted about this aircraft in another forum) are correct, but it made sense to me that 769 was the ABX-surplus aircraft that could be leased to Raya in lieu of 255CM. Perhaps Raya will be getting a different CAM 767-200 from the excess supply of those aircraft at ABX.

I'm assuming it's DHL ME because A9C-DHC (a 757) ferried Bahrain-Shannon-Halifax-Juan Santamaria (SJO) today. I think 769 covers DHC.

WJ,

N769AX is definitely going to DHL Intl ME. Read an excerpt:

"....DHL recently informed ABX that it intends to terminate the sublease of a second Boeing 767 cargo aircraft in April 2017 and thereafter lease that aircraft to its affiliate in the Middle East"

N769AX joins N752AX (reregistered A9C-DHK) and N796AX (reregistered A9C-DHJ) in the DHL Intl ME fleet.

Expected to go to Dean Baldwin Painting at GYR shortly. Maybe in service before the end of the month.

Thanks for the clarification! Also, I appreciated your post in the other thread detailing the aircraft that had departed ABX in the past few months.

N363UP performed ferry flight 5X9130 from HND to PHX yesterday, apperently then went from PHX to GYR for storage, but I can only find the flight from HND to PHX on FlightAware.

It was a Canadian Airlines ntu that was bought by Guiness Peat and then leased to China Southern.
Interestingly this frame has been owned by 3 lessors over its life. GPA, then GECAS and then CIT.

A9C-DHM (DHL International) was delivered April 1st from @ ILN to @ BAH (conducting first commercial flight today April 13th). This is a CAM lease of an ex-ABX Air frame (N769AX). It replaces a 757F in the fleet. LN 58. 1983 built. Originally built for ANA.

N739AX is back in service after a 9 months heavy maintenance check (test flight conducted on April 14th). The airframe is now operated by Air Transport International. Until July 2016, it was operated by Amerijet. Leased from CAM. LN 26. 1982 built. Originally a Delta frame.

For what it's worth, I think that upon lease return 9 months ago, that aircraft was just going to be left to sit because of its age and the maintenance that it needed. Then, several months ago, ATI decided to add it to its fleet to have a spare for the Amazon flying that wasn't a frame that might be seen as an ABX scope violation for ATI to use (complicated). I think it got about 5-6 months of heavy maintenance, including the aft pressure bulkhead change, all of which took some time to coordinate and accomplish. Bottom line, it certainly took at least 5 months to plan and execute all the maintenance, but my impression is that the work itself wasn't even planned until a few months after the lease return.

OY-SRV (Star Air) was delivered on April 19th to @CGN following refurbishment/painting @MEX/SNN. This is a GECAS frame (all Star Air 763s are leased from GECAS) that was recently operated by LATAM Cargo. I'm unclear if this is additional lift for Star Air or replacing one of its older 762s. On the same day it was delivered, OY-SRL (the oldest Star Air 767) ferried to @SNN. Although that could simply be for painting/maintenance. LN 956. 2007 build. Originally delivered to JAL Cargo.

Sorry if this was already posted in here, but for DL's fleet:
N143DA will retire in May
N144DA will retire in October
N140LL and N1402A will retire in December
3 763ERs are planned to retire later this year. Although unknown which ones I'm betting it's the oldest ones 171, 172, and 174.

D-ATYF (TUIfly) was returned to its owner TUI Group on April 21st @SNN for refurbishment and transfer to Thomson Airways as G-OBYF. This is a regular occurrence with the frame spending winters in Germany and summers in England. LN 705. 1998 build. leased from ILFC. Originally delivered to Britannia.

C-GDUZ (Air Canada) has been retired from the fleet and flown to QPG for Air Canada Rouge installations. This is the last Air Canada 763 going to Rouge this year (probably forever!) 2 more AC mainline 763s due to be retired later this year. LN 399. 1991 build. Originally delivered to Asiana.

THIs is a new development. These 767A models are much newer than DL's other domestic birds and are ETOPS and were planned to stick around for awhile. What changed?

Looking at all of the 767's being retired and hacked to bits to become freighters, they are all bulit between 1999-2005. There is clearly something undesirable about 767's built during this awful timeframe - what the hell is it!!!!!! Cripes, there are ones pushing 25 that are still being purchased by Westjet etc, what's going on here!!

Air Canada is not scheduled to get to 25 widebody aircraft at Rouge this year. This year is scheduled for 24, and next year for 25.

I think you're barking up the wrong tree. The age ranges for freighter conversions are simply the available airframes that are getting parked as they are replaced by new 787/A330/A350s. The ones actually getting hacked up for spares are very high cycle machines (Delta domestic 763As, ANA/JAL domestic birds). A few "new" JAL 763s are going to UPS as they get replaced by newer aircraft. The oldest DL 763ERs are above 120,000 hours on them, so expect them to get chopped for spares when they are parked. Interestingly, with the cargo market bottom-feeding any suitable airframe lately, the spares market must be really tight.

Relax a bit, you might end up with an aneurysm over Westjet's fleet planning at this rate.

Unless it plans on allocating some its A350s or all remaining 789s on order to domestic flying, the answer is no. The sale to UPS was an opportunistic one. These were some of the handful 763ERs that JAL still had that had not had the refurbished interior. Also growth a JAL is slowing down but 789s keep getting delivered. So JAL saw an opportunity in the tight current secondary market for second hand 763s to flip some that required significant capex going forward and allow fleet size to match more realistic 2017-18 growth targets.

PT-MOD (LATAM Airlines Brazil) was delivered to @CNF on May 5th following refurbishment in @MEX. This is an ex-LATAM Airlines Chile (CC-BDD) frame which was retired from that fleet on April 10th. LATAM Group continues to shuffle its fleet around between subsidiaries. As LATAM Chile takes more 787s, it is transferring some of its 767s to LATAM Argentina and LATAM Brazil. LN 1029. 2012-built. Originally delivery to LAN.

HB-JJF (TUI Airlines Netherlands) was delivered to @AMS on May 6th following refurbishment in @SNN. This is a lease from Privatair. The frame last flew for ECAir until the company went belly up last year. it had been stored in @SNN ever since. I assume this is a short lease to cover the busy summer season and heavy maintenance for long-haul frames in the TUI Group. LN 652. 1997-built. Originally delivered to LAN.

1403 and 1404 need expensive multi-million dollar overhauls that DL will not pay for. Even though these planes are newer than most, they do not have large forward cargo doors or the large center fuel tanks that most 767-300ERs have. This could make them undesirable in the second-hand market.

1401 and 1402 are probably too small of a subfleet to keep flying. Also, these planes might not have the NGS system installed which has a drop-dead installation date of December, 2017.

Thanks for this. Flew on N143DA yesterday. I had to laugh, the lady next to me was complaining about the PTV not working. Told her they're probably not going to fix it since this aircraft is being retired soon, all the passengers around me were amazed because the plane was in great condition.

This frame actually turned around at HHN while on its way to RME and went back to TLV. Something about a fuel system issue and pumping regarding the center tank. Presumably it will be back on its way to RME soon.

Thank you OP for opening this thread. I never have a chance to sit on B767 despite Royal Brunei Airlines used to fly 8 of them.

I always wonder if those ex-RBA B767-300ER which went to Aerosvit can be flown again? All of them are fitted them with winglet except one V8-RBG (became UR-AAG). After VV collapsed, some went on to serve Ukraine International Airlines. Three remains stored to this day (UR-AAG, UR-AAH and UR-VVW).

Polar Air Cargo N647GT has transferred to Hong Kong and flying HKG-BKK-HKG. Flying under AHK flight number LD831/832.

All AHK's A306s are flying, but B744 B-HOU is not. An A306 is covering the NRT-HKG route, so 647 is probably covering an A306.

I forgot to update this. This aircraft was worked on back at TLV, then returned to HHN on 5/9. On 5/10, it went from there to AMA for paint. This seems to indicate that Atlas is using Leading Edge (now owned by the same company as the Irish painting place) to do the work on this one, rather than Premier, who has done all the other Atlas 767-300s for Amazon (as well as the first ATI one), at their shop in RME. Given the normal turn time, should be out of paint by middle of next week (around 5/24).

Amazon Prime Air's recently-converted N1229A is out of paint at Leading Edge in AMA, and has flown to MIA tonight. Operated by GTI. This will be number 5 for GTI; 11th 763 for Prime (rest ATI). Other details about the frame already discussed above. (Synopsis: Last owner ET; 7 months to convert d/t lots of work; had a hiccup on the first post-conversion ferry leg, returned to TLV, 3-day delay; LN738; 1999; orig. KLM.)

For DL's fleet:
N143DA heading to SBD for retirement today. N140LL and N1402A will retire in February 2018 after the Super Bowl. N144DA will retire sometime this year.
Also it's rumored that 3 of the ex-Gulf Air 767s will retire this year as well.

I often held that the 763ER would stick around in passenger operation a long time because it competes fine with the 787 on a depreciated basis.

It turns out that is more true for cargo.
