Maybe you should learn a bit of history? Benelux is a well established portmanteau of 3 countries that have strong historical and cultural links. Last century, those 3 countries also formed a Union (the Benelux Union) what would later expand and eventually become the EU.
(the Benelux Union actually still exists today, but serves a different purpose than 70 years ago)

Slightly late but hereby the official CBS January 2017 traffic figures for the Dutch Airports of "national interest", which excludes the only other commercial airport Den Helder (don't ask me why, but from a Dutch economy point of view Den Helder is more important than Groningen). Note that these may deviate from figures communicated by the airports themselves. The figures

Number of passengers
AMS: 4,559,527 (+9.9%)
EIN: 349,345 (+20.5%)
RTM: 99,803 (+11.3%)
GRQ: 9,616 (+24.5%)
MST: 6,095 (+18.5%)

Cargo (in cluding post) in tons
AMS: 137,622 (+6.6)
MST: 2,923 (-/-64.0%)
RTM, GRQ and EIN do not have cargo.

Movements (including training and general aviation)
AMS: 107,123 (+7.3%)
EIN: 7,277 (+22.1%)
RTM: 5,477 (+4.2%)
GRQ: 2,343 (41.4%)
MST: 1,465 (-/-29.6%)

Though passengers figures were good for MST, the number of flights declined dramatically (the drop in cargo was to be expected when ET returned to BRU).

It seems we'll have a new commercial airport in the BeNeLux in 2019. Today, Lelystad airport announced it is planned to open for commercial operations on April 1st 2019 (and this is no April's fool joke). Originally the plan was April 1st 2018, but this was not feasible. However, the airport hopes that the infrastructure will be reasy by that date. It also hopes the MRO activities can be expanded by that date to larger aircraft.

Be interesting to see how Lelystad builds up traffic wise.

While I do agree that each side of the Atlantic may have it's own mysteries that aren't clear to the other side (I for instance always suffer with ICAO codes for small city-airports in Mid-West USA) , BeNeLux is definitely not something made-up by the posted you initially reacted to. It's existed for 70 years.

in the first week we got the relatively positive figures from BRU airport and it would be interesting to see if other airports in the BeNeLux will follow (though we know Maastrichts figures will probably be terrible).

Vueling is getting into the Amsterdam - Manchester market with a 6 weekly (daily except Saturday) flight as of Summer 2017. For those intersted the schedule:
VY8054 AMS dep 1820 arr MAN 1850
VY8055 MAN dep 1930 arr AMS 2155

The BeNeLux is a political Union between 3 neighbouring EU memberstates willing to integrate even deeper than the EU only does...

It's about as close as a federation you can possibly come, before you have to give up sovereignty

Firstly: you could do a bit of research yourself, you could have google BeNeLux yourself and it would have taken the same time as you did your post. Secondly a lot of Americans take for granted that the rest of the world knows what they are talking about, but the other way around we need to hand it to them, a bit arrogant don't you think? Yes, I know the 50 states of America, do you know all the countries of the continent of Europe? By hart?

Don't mind what you asked, I mind the way you asked it. America isn't the center of the world and with Trump even less and less. Don't mean to take it all out on you, but that is something that annoyed me for along time. Sorry about that.

Back to aviation related posts. Schiphol released the number of noise compliants of 2016. Between November 1st 2015 and 31 October 2016 it received 217,000 compliants. However 158,000 compliants were filed by 35 people. The remaining 59,000 compliants were filed by 5,865 people. The most compliants went to the 747-400, but the 747-800 and A380 reached the top as well.

Meanwhile ASL/JetNetherlands adds a Piaggio P180 Avanti which flew for them before.

BTW on the website of ASLJetNetherlands you can book an empty leg from Rotterdam to Antwerp on a Cessna 510 Citation Mustang....though still longer than the CRl-ANR they advertise on a Pilatus PC12NG, I wonder how much airtime you get on such a jet.

My apologies. My pivot table tripple counted the scheduled commercial flights. The CBS figures count both scheduled commercial and non-scheduled commercial, but whilst they show only scheduled and total commercial flights. Moreover one of the subsets in the CBS data seems to include the commercial flights as well. The exact number of movements at AMS should be 36,747 of which:
- 35,663 commercial flights (of which 34,713 scheduled, remainder non-scheduled)
- 710 non-commercial flights (e.g. general aviation, maintenance related)
- 354 training flights

Updated table

Movements (including training and general aviation)
AMS: 36,747 (+6.9%)
EIN: 2,545 (+22.7%)
RTM: 3,240 (+7.4%)
GRQ: 1,963 (35.5%)
MST: 1,068 (-/-30.4%)

Movements are down because of a significant decline in flights which land and depart at the same airport (usually training flights).

Hereby the Dutch traffic figures for February (source CBS Statline)

Number of passengers
AMS: 4,324,272 (+5.59%)
EIN: 347,522 (+18.01%)
RTM: 100,103 (-/-6.41%)
GRQ: 10,268 (+39.36%)
MST: 5,562 (-/-5.58%)

At the opening of the new temporary terminal, the current estimates is that AMS will hit the 64mln this year. Moreover, KL and other airlines are starting to compain that it's becoming too crowded and that the airport should do something about the reducing quality (and inefficient border control).

Cargo (including post) in tons
AMS: 133,555 (+6.51)
MST: 5,677 (-/-29.76%)
RTM: 1 (-/-87.50%)
GRQ and EIN do not have cargo.

Movements (including training and general aviation)
AMS: 34,673 (+1.33%)
EIN: 2,390 (+12.84%)
RTM: 5,477 (+4.2%)
GRQ: 1,952 (2.57%)
MST: 1,048 (-/-15.62%)

KLM will cancel Astana and Almaty as of W17. It mentions the economic downturn in Kazachstan as the prime reason.

Meeanwhile some rumours suggest an A340 will arrive to be scrapped (sorry disassembled) at Twente Airport on April 27th. It would be the first aircraft to be scrapped by AELS (Aircraft End-of-Life Solutions).

Some good news from Groningen:

Depending on the source the airport has grown with 25% in Q1.

(CBS)
Q1 2016 23.629
Q1 2017 30.870
Grow = 30,6%

or

25% growth (RTV Noord).

Seems that the new Copenhagen and continuing London lines are paying off!

Is the percentage y-o-y?

Interesting, for AMS and EIN number of passengers went up more (%) then the movements, so bigger planes or more % of the seat filled?

RTM, GRQ and MST are not really important.

What's the current status of TUI Nederland operations?

1. What happened to the plan, to lease in Surinam's sole A340 to TFS/LPA?
2. Which routes will be served by B767-300 HB-JJF? Any more details available the configuration?

AFAIK Transavia replaced the 73G with a 738 on some EIN routes. However, I haven't been following the schedules at AMS lately

Officially I've to include the figures from Den Helder as well as this is the only Dutch commercial airport missing in the overview. However, CBS doesn't feel they're important  Moreover, MST is still an important cargo airport and some rumours suggest that they may get some more cargo flights this year. Finally, since when is RTM not important? Still more than 100k passengers per month.

Well, the A340 had some problems lately.... However, the A340 will be (and was always intended as) a back up plane for TUI. AFAIK it won't be scheduled in their operations. Furthermore, it is for the Summer holidays only.

Sorry, I only meant not really that important in the passenger count. Trying to assess what happened with the passenger numbers versus the number of rotations. Bigger aircraft or more seats occupied.

On the other hand, I like to see the numbers, thanks for that!

Upon closer inspection it seems that the number of commercial flights at EIN increased while general aviation movements decreased by 69 flights. Given that a 737 has more passengers, the percentage gain for numer of passengers will be bigger. You see the opposite in the MST figures. The number of commercial flights decreased by 58 whereas the total number of movements are up by 358 (due to an increase in flights which depart and land at the same airport).

In addition the EIN figures were influenced by better loadfactors.

Very good traffic figures for April 2017 due to the Easter holidays.

Number of passengers
AMS: 5,837,225 (+11.32%)
EIN: 503,029 (+17.38%)
GRQ: 15,907 (+60.68%)
MST11; 15,478 (-/-9.81%)
RTM: 153,870 (+11.46%)

The number of passengers at GRQ increased by more than 60% due to the new scheduled flight to Copenhagen, TUI making Gran Canaria yearround and some other new holiday flights. Also note hat 1 737 extra for GRQ has a relative high impact on its traffic figures.

Cargo in tons
AMS: 148,505 (+5.67%)
MST: 5,478 (+31.40%)
RTM: 3 (-/- 78.57%)

Finally we see the correct picture about the cargo figures at MST. The previous months were down due to the fact that ET shifted its operations to MST for a few months in Q1 2016.

Movements

Cargo at LUX seems to be booming. as you can read in the article below. The number of tons increased by 16.4% for the first 4 months to 286,000 tons. Growth in mArch and April was exceptionally high. Therefore, LUX will increase the number of 4 new stands for cargo planes.

KLM Cityhopper ordered two additional E190. They already have 30 E190, and will have 17 E175 once the Fokkers are completely phased out.
http://news.klm.com/klm-cityhopper-orders-two-additional-e190s/

At present, 38 of our 47 aircraft, operating 105,000 flights annually, are already Embraers.

It is well known that AMS is approaching the set limit of 500,000 movements anually. Am I reading this correctly, thinking 1/5 of the max. movements are Cityhopper Embraers?

The 500.000 movement limit for AMS is only valid for 2019 and 2020, thereafter the limit is still to be decided and could be significantly higher.

Your assumption that 1/5 AMS flights is operated by KLC is correct, KLM mainline operates about 1,4/5, so KLM/KLC stands at 2,4/5 or about 48% of all AMS movements.

In 2016 KLM operated 227.594 movements out of AMS total 478.864 air transport movements = 48%.

Also:

30x E190 = avg. 6x flights/day = 180 flights / day = 64.800 flights / year (360 days/aircraft)
17x E175 = avg. 6x flights/day = 102 flights / day = 36.720 flights / year (360 days/aircraft)

Total = 101.520 flights - so not a bad estimate.

Schiphol broke a record today. Around 230,000 passengers passed through the airport, 81,000 of which were in transit. Being at the aiport myself yesterday (a friend of ours had a 6-hour layover) I must say that the lines before the KLM baggage drop off were very very long and I'm glad I didn't have to stand in it.

KLM will reduce IST to a single daily 737-700 flight starting Sep 4th. Sad to see KLM have such a small presence in such a large market.

Maybe demand to Istanbul is declining because of the political climate? Helsinki goes from three to four daily flights, the article states.

I don't believe this is still a big market. The fact that TK throws in A330's and 77W's to AMS is not telling anything about yields/loads at all.
More carriers have reduced or dropped IST flights due to lack of demand.
The political situation in Turkey is the reason of the decline in traffic. Turkish people in NL will still go to Turkey for family visits etc but I assume this type of traffic is more LCC focused, hence Pegasus, Sun Express etc still have precense at AMS.

My apoligies for the ate reply, but I don't want to leave out the June traffic results

Number of passengers
AMS: 6,144,775 (+711%)
EIN: 532,103 (+129.62%)
GRQ: 28,786 (+82.94%)
MST: 18,631 (-/-55.79%)
RTM: 186,491 (+5.54%)

The increase in the figures for EIN can be attributed to a large extent to the closure of the airport for 2 weeks last year. The same applies to the decrease of the MST number of passengers (some airlines used MST as alternate for EIN).

Cargo in tons
AMS: 150,949 (+9.35%)
MST: 4,813 (+58.48%)
RTM: 2 (-/-66.67%

Number of movements
AMS: 45,612 (+3.35%)
EIN: 3,312 (+101.71%)
GRQ: 2,238 (-/-7.79%)
MST: 2,592 (+34.02%)
RTM: 5,209 (+5.40%)

Movements at MST increased mainly due to training flghts and other flights which arrive and depart at the same airport. The number of commercial flights decreased from 946 to 852 whcih is in line with the fact that in 2016 MST had some flights which diverted from EIN (which was closed for two weeks).

July 2017

Number of passengers
AMS: 6,729.274 (+6.36%)
[EIN: 567,053 (+11.69%)
GRQ: 20,642 (+24.12%)
]MST: 22,693 (+30.11%)
RTM: 193,211 (+18.90%)

Cargo in tons
AMS: 150,957 (+6.24%)
MST: 6,634 (+198.96%)

Cargo figures at AMS are still rising though will probably come to a stop when W17 starts. It seems that AMS inetends to pull some slots away from cargo airlines as the airport is full and the cargo airlines are regularly delayed. Needless to say bad news for cargo at AMS this will happen (but good news for its competitors BRU, LGG and MST).

Number of movements
AMS: 48,034 (+2.38%)
EIN: 3,480 (+3.94%)
GRQ: 2,120 (-/-7.91%)
]MST: 2,086 (+17.32%)
RTM: 4,812 (-/-4.58%)
