No new orders for Airbus for the month of February but they did book cancellations for 6 A321neos and 4 A330-800s from the now defunct carrier TransAsia.

Think there's a conversion of 1 787-9 to 787-8 in the monthly figures. An unusual move.

British Airways perhaps; they had announced they were converting one 787-9 order to a 787-8.

The 787 conversion is AerCap (ILFC), they only had 787-9s left to be delivered but since this update they have 1 open 787-8 order (no engine selection)

New Korean startup KAIR Airlines orders 8 A320ceo.

From Reuters:

March 13 (Reuters) - Airbus AIR.PA:
* South Korean start-up carrier KAIR Airlines has announced that it has selected the A320 Family to launch its new low cost operation, with a firm order for eight A320ceo

* The new airline will be based in Cheongju in central South Korea and will focus primarily on services to international destinations in North East Asia

* "The selection of the A320 by KAIR Airlines underscores once again the position of the Airbus single aisle product line as the preferred choice for low cost airlines in Asia," Airbus executive John Leahy says in a statement

The new order could be either Atlas or Air Bridge , both of whom have one more frame in production than they have on order. The only freighter order likely to be cancelled is for Nippon Airbus they had 2 on order. Transaero has 4 passenger frames on order awaiting cancellation but again why cancel just one.

The two 747-8F are NCA's.

The 13 737 changes is probably an NG to MAX conversion.

So 40 new 737s and 4 new 787s ordered - China, perhaps?

Just to stir the pot a bit......shouldn't we really change this thread to "Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier Orders 2017"? I only say this because the CSeries does play in the same sandbox as the 737 and 320 series of aircraft and is regularly mentioned when mentioning single aisle orders. :stirthepot:

Although I tend to agree with you on Bombardier CSeries, do you want to include Comac C919 and Irkut MC-21?

This direct quote from QR's CEO confirms that QR's 737-8 MAXs will not be flown by QR itself, but related airlines:

"in October 2016 Qatar Airways signed a letter of intent for up to 60 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. However, these will not be used by Qatar Airways itself: “We won’t operate the A320 with the 737. The 737 is to cater for investment in other airlines"

Chinese leasing company BOC has picked up the pair of 747-8 freighters that were cancelled when the cargo division of NH dropped them a couple days ago. http://www.bizjournals.com/seattle/news ... asing.html

FWIW, I think the C Series orders are more significant to BBD than yet another in a string of Airbus or Boeing orders, and merit their own thread. In here, they are just buried.

We can't assume that these are new orders until we see how Boeing treats them. Boeing Capital has been leasing the previous AirBridge frames, so it could be just a switch of lessor. The Nippon Cargo frames were never in assembly so it is nothing to do with them. Just the usual sloppy journalism.

You're the one assuming. I'm just publishing an article on the event. How Boeing identifies them is a different issue entirely.

The Cargo Facts article linked to for additional information within the bizjournals article points to some potential clarity on this. They state that the next two frames that are allocated for ABC are the Intrepid Aviation leases, with the first built and scheduled to be delivered in April, and the second in the FAL and scheduled to be delivered in September. Beyond that, 1542 was allocated to ABC also but that has just recently been changed. It is unclear what it is changed to at the moment.

In terms of backlog, ABC currently has 2 unfilled orders, which could be the Intrepid Aviation frames, and then there are the 2 BOC Aviation frames that will need to be added to the backlog and allocated in some fashion. If the ABC unfilled orders are not the Intrepid Aviation frames, then those two frames will need to be firmed as well.

Ya, upon further examination earlier today of the filing by BOC Aviation, it was clear that they were dealing with a Boeing subsidiary and that they were specifically discussing non-new frames. Both of which pointed to it being a purchase of existing leases to ABC. The reporting of the original story, including that done by Cargo Facts, was quite muddled and confused. In fact, some of their own terminology and statements could be interpreted multiple ways, and probably contributed to their own confusion.

The only fact we do know is that the 747 order book was reduced by 2 aircraft at the same time BOC purchased two aircraft. That indicates the 2 remaining NCA orders have been canceled, and no new orders were added.

The unfilled orderbook for the 747-8 now shows Transaero down to three and one for Unidentified. I presume this means Boeing has a buyer for one of the Transaero NTUs.

For the 747-8F the unfilled orderbook has just 14 for UPS and 2 for ABC, so nothing for the rumoured Atlas sale and nothing added for ABC.

Boeing Weekly Update

88 new orders (Australia P-8 for four 737s, Business Jet / VIP Customer(s) for two 737s, Indian Navy P-8I for four 737s, UK P-8 for 2 737s, US Navy P-8A Poseidon for 11 737s, Unidentified Customer(s) for 57 737s and eight 777s.)

http://www.boeing.com/commercial/#/orders-deliveries

The 8 777s are 77Ws and the 57 737s are 41 737 MAX and 16 737-800s. The 4 787s booked the previous week are -8s with GE engines.

I'm assuming the -8s with GEs are new -8s (not teens)? Haven't seen many new orders of -8s.

Yes. I am pretty sure all the teens are now spoken for in the order book (Crystal is looking to sell theirs though).

Boeing Defense must have been having a sale. Wouldn't surprise me if the BBJ/VIP customers are government planes (one for the Netherlands?).

The 2 BBJ2's are most likely for the Government of Poland, refer to this thread
