As I suspected when I logged the ferry flight for 6308 to MZJ earlier this month, the crew did a fly by just above the runway. Here's the video. Fitting pass I'd say for the Queen...

You may want to also post this under the DL Widebody thread. Really fun video! You have to crank up the sound for full effect.

739s - has anyone recently flown any of the following and noted 2Ku?
3843 - was in DTW 9/12-15
3877 - was in ATL 9/15-19
3878 - previously had the do-not-track, so historical data is not as forthcoming
3879 - was in DTW 8/31-9/3
I suspect some/all of these may have received 2Ku mods, which would mean the 739 fleet is nearly complete. Thanks for any info!

DL 9950/9951 showing A320 ferries ATL-SAL/SAL-ATL, respectively, later today. These should be for 3250 and 3232.

660 showing RTS tomorrow morning, so I expect it to ferry IND-ATL tonight or very early in the morning tomorrow. This will complete the 75D mods.

Also, an update on 2Ku per a reliable source:
- 319s are all complete.
- 753s to be complete in January.
- 739s are all complete except for 3835 (currently in VQQ getting 2Ku) and 3858. Timing TBD on 3858.
- 73Ws to begin 2Ku mods in January.

6822 should RTS later today (currently showing a delay on DL9933). This will complete all 757 cabin mods that were previously announced. 2Ku mods still remain on the 753s and 75Ds, but no announcement has been made for 75S/75H/75P.

If I'm not mistaken we had a 757-200 that retired last month, not sure of the reg. #. Are anymore retirements for the 757-200 scheduled for next year? If so, how many are expected to retire next year and what will be the first frame to be retired in 2018?

All of the non-upgraded 757 frames have now been retired. I wouldn't expect any additional 757 retirements for a little while. Retirements in the short term will likely be MDs.

I did a bit of research on Deltas 757-200 fleet on airfleets.net just for curiosity from oldest to youngest. Currently the oldest 757 that is still active in the fleet is N652DL at a staggering 28 years of age! Its first flight took place on 7/12/1989. I know thats only a few years after the 757 was launched but Jesus Christ thats long ways! It could be one of the oldest 757s in the world by all means (If true). The youngest of the fleet should be N822DX, which is 13 years old with it's first flight date on 10/5/2004.

Actually, the oldest 757 still in service is N649DL, which is another two months older.
The oldest MD-88 is even older. N904DL was delivered March 28, 1987. 30 years old.
The oldest A320 isn't far behind the 757. N309US was delivered October 10, 1990. 27 years old.

And three of the last four B744s still flying were all delivered to NW in 1989/1990...N666US was delivered August 18, 1989, N669US was delivered August 20, 1990 and N670US was delivered August 31, 1990!

Does DL still have the ex-UA CR7s in service in that one-off configuration of 6 F seats?

N752SK is still configured in traditional UA layout with 6 F seats and currently is running as a spare with both UA & AS networks. But it was flying DL a few months back and it's possible for it to show up unannounced on a DL run.

Worth noting that the oldest few ships are in charter configuration (typically used for NBA teams) and have quite low usage. This is why DL replaced the newer A319s in NW's charter fleet with older 757s.

The oldest 757 currently in scheduled service is 658 (N658DL), which just received an overhauled interior a few months ago. It has somewhere around 38500 cycles. Delta has been retaining many 757s until they reach 45000 cycles, so the aircraft still has a few years of remaining life. (Although I have to confess I was surprised that the remaining life on 658 and its sister ships 660 and 665 was deemed enough to warrant installing the new interior.)

The decision to move to 757's was the NBA's, not Delta's. The 75C's were all set for retirement until the deal came along. Of course it benefits DL because the 75C's were sold to the NBA and leased back - and the NBA takes a significant role in maintenance costs and such.

The NBA wanted bigger planes and DL perfectly had a batch of 757's ready to retire.
