will be interesting what will happen to some of those "long-ish" domestic routes (SLC-HNL, ATL-ANC) and the high volume winter routes (MSP-MCO/PHX) going forward. Yes, the whole time I have been talking about the ex-GOL 738s. I'm fully aware that the 767-300s have PTVs and don't fly to MCI, CVG, BHM, and PNS :bigthumbsup: .

CVG does actually have 767 service :-), it's just not a 76P. I believe it usually is on a 76T.

SLC-HNL is the only route that needs something widebody. ATL-ANC will probably go back to the 757.

I'm sure DL can find some slack in the winter to do SLC-HNL on a 763ER or 330 and then next year with more 350s coming that should add enough slack to have a 767 or 330 available in for SLC-HNL.

Well, that answers that. Doubt there is a secondhand market for these birds as they are oddballs not suitable for cargo conversion. A much shorter lifespan than Delta usually gets out of its aircraft for 1403/4.

Will they be ordering the 737s?


The 10 additional 737's are a put option that Boeing exercised. I think when Delta ordered the 20 additional 739's, the agreement gave Boeing the option to sell Delta 10 more, and Boeing exercised the option in March 2017. The 10-Q statement and various SEC documents mention the put option.

Keep in mind Delta ordered an additional 40 737-900ERs in addition to 20 EMB-190s until the rejection of the pilot contract cancelled the order.

I was on a 737-800 yesterday that had 5 rows of comfort plus. I couldn't tell which configuration this is... will all 738s with the "soft" bulkhead go to this configuration?

With the retirement of the 4 Domestic 767-300s I thought that DL had planned on pulling some -300ERs from international routes to domestic permanently to replace them. There should be a lot of spare airframes coming up after the summer schedule with the delivery of all of those 242T A330s.

3752 is in the air now, back in service.
3748 did a test hop, so it should return to service very soon.

Expect 3750 to take 3748s spot in ATL for H+/2Ku this evening.
2 73Hs remain without the H+ mod: 3751 and 3764.
17 active 738s do not yet have 2Ku. There are an additional 7 currently getting the mod (including the 4 73As).

What is the current plan for A320 P2 mods? Will all of the remaining 62 A320s after this year's retirements get the mod, or will they focus on the later frames (3234 and up) with -5A3 engines and the resulting increased range?

With comments from reliable DL employees, I think its safe to say A320 frames 3234 and up will be staying long term and will receive the Phase 2 modifications with removing a section of three seats in the rear and adding in seat AVOD while the small motor frames are parked, which has already begun. Of course things can change but there aren't too many A320s with A1 engines flying around.

There are 18 -5A1 frames that are not scheduled to retire this year. One (3227) is already P2-equipped. The others have all had P1 completed. That suggests to me that they are going to stick around awhile. I just wonder given their somewhat limited capability and advanced age if it's worth it to P2 all of them.

How limited is the capability of the -5A1 frames compared to that of the -5A3 frames? I just looked at the flight history of -5A1 equipped 3209, and saw a bunch of 4-5 hour flights, so it doesn't seem they're limited to the point DL has to place them on shorter routes. Somewhat unrelated, but, planespotters says the newest two 320s (3277, 3278) delivered in 2003 also are equipped with -5A1s. Is that correct, or is planespotters wrong?

Guys, what is exactly the change in the 73W fleet?. today I was on N305DQ and the lights were and cabin were old, they weren't bright and definitely no mood lighting. I asked the flight attendants and they had no idea about it.

Last week I was on N308DE (no changes made so far to this aircraft) and the cabin was exactly the same.

The weights are the same; the difference is in field performance, because the -5A3 has an additional 1500 lbs thrust on each side. Where available runway isn't at issue, the -5A1 frames do fine. The difference is most pronounced out of SLC or in hot summer weather.

Somewhat unrelated, but, planespotters says the newest two 320s (3277, 3278) delivered in 2003 also are equipped with -5A1s. Is that correct, or is planespotters wrong?


I never noticed that, but it appears to be correct. They are reflected as -211s in the FAA database.

Can anyone shed any light on the conditions of the 737-700? I am flying one EYW-ATL end of the May? Do they have the new IFE like the 737-900ER and some of the 737-800 or the old screens?

If anyone has any pictures that would be great?

The 2 in mods (3115/3136) have not exited yet but should soon, only 3116 left to enter

3235 is believed to be in P2 mods, is the 1st aircraft to get P1 mods. Has been at MSP for a week.
5 unmodded aircraft to get both phases; 3 aircraft are in mods for both phases at the moment.
6 320s (potentially more) to retire this year with only known date being 3211 on May 9th.

737-7
3 aircraft (3608-3610) still need mods however none have entered since the last completion exited.

737-8
3749/3750 recently entered mods, leaving only 2 (3751/3764) left to get mods.

757
5 in mods at IND for 75D, 6 left to get mods (658-660, 665, 668, 669). Sounds like 665, 668, 669 will get mods sooner and 658-660 will wait until the fall.
N819DX should be hopefully exiting mods soon.
N623DL should exit by June, 633/635 to join later this year.

I was on a 737-800 on Tuesday that had the blue mood lighting and Satellite wi-fi but still the older smaller TV screens (at least in the bulkhead). Seems like they would have updated the screens when they were doing everything else?

Those would be the older 73H 737-800s. I believe First got new screens, but the old screens were left in place in Y. The same on the 75H, I think? It's quite lame.

The issue is not so much the screens but IFE system itself. The 73H still have the original systems that have much less space for content and a less functional user interface. If they would just update the head end, it would make a huge difference even if they kept the old screens.

Actually I was in row 1 in 1st (bulkhead). It did not have the larger screens. It still had the small screens. It wasn't the end of the world I just found it interesting.

Anyone have any information on the remaining ExpressJet 700's? N738EV looks to be in mods in TUS. N600QX, N605QX, and N740EV look to be the last three waiting for mods. N605QX & N740EV haven't flown in quit sometime. Any updates?

The QX tails are departing the fleet and won't be modded. The only QX plane still hanging around is 600QX and that plane won't be around for much longer. The only planes in work at this point are 603SK on the OO side and 738EV and 740EV on the EV side. The next time these 3 planes fly will be in the post-mod config. This means that excluding 600QX and 752SK, all flying CRJ-700 aircraft are complete.

Additionally, all CRJ-900 aircraft have completed mods.

On the E170/175 side, there is only one flying plane that is awaiting mods. All other planes are either in work or complete. This one plane should rotate into mod in the next few days.
