UAL.com often has a lot of weird quirks with fleet types on weekends during maintenance and schedule updates. Sometimes you can find them showing Dash 8s flying TATL and other nonsense.

Yep. It's been an issue for a few years now. I remember discussion on here a while back about a number of TATL routes being listed as flown by E145Xs. Queue the Smisek and 50 seater jokes here. IIRC, it was something like the incorrect aircraft was purposely listed as a placeholder until the correct aircraft was determined. At least that was the theory. I would imagine they would use a type that makes no sense to indicate that it is being used as a placeholder. Although in this case, I think there was some speculation a while back that these reconfigured domestic 772s could be used on high density/low yield routes TATL, but I believe that was later refuted. However, Occam's Razor in instances like this points to glitch, but it's a known and recurring glitch.

I checked again this AM and I was 1) completely wrong or 2) it changed to a PMCO 772 after that. Either one is probable; it was early that AM!

Well I've noticed in the last 8 months, at least for me, the Flight Status page on United.com is nearly useless. Often it doesn't update in real time, I regularly get errors, especially if I try a 2nd search from the bottom of the results, and lately, when you click on where is the aircraft coming from, it just cycles you back to the original flight you searched. It is very frustrating, because these were some of the best features that CO introduced for pax transparency, and it worked with UA long after the merger and after the new site was introduced, so something on the back end must have changed. Strange thing is it all seems to work ok on the Android App, but not their actual website. I wrote to UA months ago, and never got a reply.

Glad that one's gone. Still wish they'd find a way to put seats in the E145s that are more like the larger RJ models.

12 weeks? I sure hope UA got a smokin' hot deal on these ex-CZ planes if they're taking this much time, effort and manpower to make them usable.

I'm not sure what's going on with the Fleet Site. Never had this issue before where spreadsheets are not displaying in standard and edit mode. Nothing different was done last night.
I'm working on it.

OK, I don't know what happened, but fortunately I had a copy of the Mainline and Fleet Progress pages still on my screen and saved them.
For right now there is a workaround to show the files of these pages if you click on the links below the box white box where the content was shown last night.
I'll try to figure out what happened to the files and restore the following pages: Express Fleet and UA Fleet Removals. For some reason the Express Fleet Removals page was unaffected by whatever happened overnight.

The Fleet information is back. One several pages, you will be asked to click a link in big text that will take you to a page for that data.
Will work later on a more permanent fix.
Please post any issues.

Ua has had the 777-300 for 30 days, yet the pilots have not started to fly them. I know it takes a few weeks to get everything up and runing, but 30 days. Could there be something holding up the pilots from starting to flying them?

I believe there was an SFO-IAH flight recently. No paying passengers, but certainly UA pilots flying it.

There has been two flts, Dec 21st Pae to Sfo and then the Jan 14th Sfo to Iah. They were not flt for Pilots training but to get from Sfo Mx to Iah Mx.

So who is flying them if not United pilots? That was your original question.

How much do they really need to train for? It's not all that different from flying any other 777 with only a few minor differences.

OK, they are called Validation flt for all, Pilots, Ramp Agents, Flt Att. Carteing, Out staion Mx. Gate agent, Jetway workers (4 weeks ago)
UA release some information internally about the 77W delivery; the first aircraft will be flown directly from PAE to SFO and w.ill go directly to the SMB where maintenance will get to work on the induction. There will be some media events taking place while the aircraft is at the SMB but after the induction is finished. The aircraft will then ferry SFO-IAH, and remain on the ground at IAH for a few days before flying IAH-ORD. As of right now it is scheduled to once again spend a few days on the ground at ORD as well as fly a couple domestic validation routes between ORD - IAH before being flown from ORD - EWR. Once the aircraft has completed its domestic validation it will ferry from EWR - SFO and perform an ETOPS validation flight SFO-NRT-SFO. AFter the induction and validation flights have been completed UA's 77W should be ready to enter service on February 1st, however; the first regularly schedule passenger flight isn't schedule to begin until February 16th the aircraft will be used on the EWR-SFO-EWR route. Flight UA1920 departs EWR at 7 a.m. and the return flight UA443 departs SFO at 12:50 p.m..

No need. LAX is all 788 and 789 last I checked. DEN only has NRT which is 788. And IAD hasn't had a 744 flight in quite some time that I recall.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but do they need to measure the bird to see where it needs to be parked at the gates, or does the 773/W park in the same position as the 772? I'm thinking about whatever those yellow paint markers are on the apron that show where the nose landing gear should be parked.

Probably a dumb question, but I like looking at those sometimes to see some aircraft types measured that otherwise almost never seen at some airports. Things like A300/310s, 727s, DC-9s, etc. in places like DEN.

UA has and will continue to do gate fit trials at its hubs over the next few weeks. Many gates are already marked but there's no substitute for pulling an aircraft in and visualizing the position of bridges and GSE, as well as getting a sense for hazards or potential conflicts.

I'm almost positive they were flying the 744 IAD-FRA as recently as six years ago. I guess it all depends on how you define "recent" or "quite some time" though. Even at its peak, I only recall maybe three or four UA 744 flights a day from IAD. I think it's probably pretty right-sized on most routes between the 763, 764, and 772. FRA needed the extra boost before, but with the A++ JV, UA/LH have the route adequately served. I would love to see UA 77Ws at IAD, but it just won't be a regular thing anytime soon.

UA had the 747-400 on IAD-LHR/FRA/PEK/NRT at its peak but ended 747-400 service ex-IAD sometime before the merger. If I remember correctly, when the 747-400 fleet was trimmed to 23, the 747-400s left IAD. I highly doubt the 777-300ER will end up serving IAD, unless on a last minute substitution flight. As for IAD-PEK/NRT long term, either the 787-9 or A350-1000 will replace the sUA 777-200ERs, unless there is a major shift in the order books.

They should be doing the same with 2131 here at IAH. when it arrived from SFO it had to park at D2 as none of the C/E gates were set up for it.

Ex-CZ 319 N891UA did a second test hop yesterday UA2188/18Jan. So it should be ready soon for INT WiFi install.

Regarding the Fleet Site. For some reason the pages were not posting for about a day, but have returned. However, I have posted at the top of the Fleet and retired pages a direct link to the Google Drive pages. For some these may be easier to view.

Here's the same Mainline info on two pages:
https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfle ... t-tracking
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... o/htmlview

319:
N816UA, recently exited SFO heavy maint, reported with ISP F/E+ and new F seats, but not shown on United.com

764:
N66057 exited MIA 2150/16Jan
N67058 entered HKG 2183/17Jan

772:
N227UA entered XMN 2133/18Jan
N785UA exited XMN 2135/18Jan
Reported 7722 Domestic 77G version 5 ships have working ch9 in J seat - these are former 3 class 772As

Express update
E175:
N200SY enters revenue service 18Jan with Skywest. PDE and Wifi active.
N202SY enters revenue service 18Jan with Skywest. PDE and Wifi active.

E145X:
N11181 has left ExpressJet in preparation for transfer.

I don't understand why they can't find a way to integrate Channel 9 into the PDE software. It'd be a nice add...

Exactly. If they could do it with the old headphones that had the plug with two tubes they should be able to do it on modern digital IFE.

I'm curious what is going on with N116UA since according to flightaware she has been in Chicago for 10 days now. Normally a fleet exit wouldn't take so long no?

I decided to book flights to HKG in a few weeks to try to get at least one final United 747 flight incase I'm unable to get a ticket for part of it's goodbye tour.

N116UA has wiring issues with the inflight entertainment video system. She is not scheduled for any flights at this time.

Assume this is a proving route? Or is it a passenger flight?

I believe it's a proving flight as UA has already announced that the first passenger revenue flights begin next month!

N2331U was to go ORDEWR today, but now shows ORDSFO as UA2120.

Now UA2120 is scheduled today from ORD>EWR, and then was scheduled from EWR>SFO tomorrow which has now been cancelled, which is strange as it's scheduled to fly from SFO>NRT at 11.15am on Wednesday, so it still has to fly to SFO at some point!

Both the ORD>EWR and EWR>SFO flights were cancelled and now it's en route from ORD>SFO!

Damn! It can really climb quick while empty. >4000ft/min for much of the climb.
