Isn't frequency preferred over size? It's a driving decision when I book, especially on international routes.

I am so happy that VS are taking such an interest in MAN its about time that it was treated as a serious airport its such a shame that BA left

It is good to see.

It is obviously unrealistic to expect anything remotely approaching the VS operation at LHR. However, 8-10 based aircraft operating a hybrid of the LHR and LGW routes is not unrealistic to expect in the next few years (if things continue to go well). The focus will be on connections to DL hubs and the obvious beach routes (e.g. MCO) but that would provide a very comprehensive route network for an airport like MAN.

The concern is that VS' (and TCX') competition will not let them expand without check and soak up any and all untapped demand. The likes of BA and Norwegian are almost certain to make counter moves to VS and TCX.

The only problem with replacing the 744 is replacing it with something that's going to the job it does well enough, lets hope the A35K does so. The 744's are always full to the brim in summer and hold strong loads the rest of the year, so I wouldn't worry about the competition in that sense. I think in time with more 789's joining the LHR fleet and the 350's to go there as well, we may see more 330's make their way up to MAN to pen new markets. Its the perfect sized a/c for VS to sart new routes with in the config its in as well. Then the larger stuff can do the large LHR markets and the MCO routes from MAN/LGW

Agreed. In 3-4 years I can see VS with a MAN fleet of 2x A35K and 6x A333.

This should allow the high frequency beach routes, daily to at least ATL and JFK, with pretty much daily to SFO, LAX, MIA and BOS with room for LAS.

Frequency or arrival times certainly are important. This was a factor when I recently booked BNE-NRT. Sure there are direct flights we could have taken, however we wanted to arrive into Tokyo in the morning, so chose SQ, even with the added flight time it was just more cost effective and convenient.
