Just like with A320NEO, the pylons here do seem to mount the engines higher than the CEO. This has got to do with the larger diameter of the new fan.

I suspect they want to keep the thrust line as near as possible to the ceo so that it does not cause too many other aero changes.

I am not sure about this, but I think Airbus have pushed forward first A330-800 NEO. Now production list shows MSN 1888 to first frame, I think it was lower before. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... utput=html

Don't think it has changed recently. Could be rolling out late 2018.

I think it has been the same MSN for a while. The only change being filling in some numbers below it. Anyway MSN number and date in FAL have not to be directly connected.

I think it has been the same MSN for a while. The only change being filling in some numbers below it. Anyway MSN number and date in FAL have not to be directly connected.

IIRC before first was something like 187X and second something like 188X. Now there is only one frame on the list, but I am not sure about this like I say before.

There are some rumors Airbus is seriously working to get 251t MTOW certified.

That would mean a more than marginal payload-range bump for all current and likely future variants (F, MRTT).

I saw the A330NEO yesterday not much visible. (I saw the A319NEO & a half painted SQ A380 landing though and an A350 proto take off, and the two A350-1000. You need good eyes / good lenses from the terminal though

Airbus has not fixed a first flight date yet. probably ~2 weeks to go. First there will be the usual engine runs, taxi & RTO's,

I do not expect that. There is only one engine type to be tested with this frame, and that engine is only a variation of the T1000ten.

At first, I thought it was just white some in the picture as the engine starts... But then I notice the engine is obviously not running, as it is open and being worked on... Very strange.

As mentioned before it is aerodynamic paint so Airbus will be able to see how the new engines effect the airflow behind the wing and on the rear fuselage.

Aerodynamics is probably one of the weakest parts of computer modeling, nothing yet beats seeing/measuring it in action (either with the real thing as in this case or with a model).
