My favorite U.S. hub would have to be a tie between San Francisco and O'Hare.

My favorite international(that I've been to) has to be Tokyo/Narita.

Really? LAF is your favorite airport? Why? I like it just because I do a lot of flying there - it's where I'm doing my training - but the treminal is certainly nothing special. My favorite thing about it is that, as a Purdue AvTech student, I have ramp access and can see planes without looking through the fence, though there aren't an abundance of non-Purdue planes to see. What makes it your favorite?

LAF is my fav just because it brings back fond memories of my college days. What could be finer than walking across the ramp between classes and gazing at the AMR Eagle Shorts 360, or the hulks of junked YS-11's over yonder.....?

I guess none of you have flown through the new Washington National (I will not call it Ronald Reagan) airport terminal. The first terminal I've seen in the U.S. that was designed so that one can see the airplanes. It has these beautfil 3 story windows that show you the apron/tarmac, where the aircraft are literally 20 feet away from the window. Plus, you see the Potomac river, capital, washington monument etc. It was desigend by Cesar Pelli and is quite breathtaking inside.

If you travel to DC don't fly to Dulles or BWI, go through National, not only do you see a great new terminal, but if you sit on the left side of the aircraft and the plane approaches from the North, you get a great view of the city.

1) SFO
2) DCA
3) MEX

SFO is my home airport and is, in my opinion, a very well designed airport, very compact when you consider that it's the world's 7th busiest airport. When they correct the 1L/1R ILS problem and finish the new international terminal, SFO's traffic is expected to go way up.

A word about DCA: if you want to se a scenic approach, it doesn't get much better than the northerly visual over the river, regardless of which side of the aircraft you sit on. If you're on the left side, you see Georgetown - my alma mater - then you can see the National Mall, the Capitol - where my grandfather works - and, of course the Washington Monument, which is currently under scaffolding, which makes it look really interesting, especially at night, when it's lit up.

Now, as TranStar said, if you like to watch airplanes, Reagan National is the place to go. It was a s**thole until the new terminal was completed in 1997. The new terminal, referred to as National Hall, is really nice. When I deadheaded back to SFO, I ate at TGI Friday's which is right next to the security gate for the middle pier. From the upper story of that restaurant or from UAL's Red Carpet Room, you can see almost everything. Or you can just sit in the main hall.

The whole idea was to let passengers see all the usual airport activity, but with the unusual backdrop of the capitol dome and the Monument and all that.

By the way, I refused to call it Reagan, too, but it just became a habit.
