Numbered posts

Sun May 19, 2019 7:59 pm

Membership may have been informed why a.net ceased numbering posts late last year/early this year and I just missed it. In many cases it was much easier to refer someone to an earlier post (by number) than to provide a lengthy explanation, if one at all.

Why was the numbering of posts halted?

Posts are still numbered, it just doesn't display in the mobile site format. On a desktop format, you can find the post numbers in the upper right hand corner of each post.

Thanks for replying. It seems I am really out of the loop computer-wise. I have a laptop, am using Windows 10 and there are only two symbols in the upper right hand corner -- report and reply with quote -- no post number. Not the first time I've had a problem with this HP. Post numbering is something I have used perhaps 2-3 times so not a big problem here. I'll have my computer tech look at this next time I have a PC issue.

Interesting. Perhaps try it on a different browser or device? I'm able to view the post numbers from my PC and from my phone while viewing in desktop mode. I wonder if your browser is defaulting to the mobile platform for some reason. I don't really know enough about this stuff to be more helpful, unfortunately.

A possibility is that your browser display might be magnified, and thus it doesn't have enough pixels to display the desktop layout, as a result the mobile layout is shown. Perhaps you can try to hit [Ctrl]+[-] button to try to fix this.
