Reasons for deletion in dropdown

Sat Jan 26, 2019 2:38 am

In the options to report posts to moderators, I noticed how limited the options are. I think more reasons should be added. Here I think are a few I think should be added:
  • Legal threat or extortion.
  • Obscene or racist language/images.
  • Post contains links with potential for fraud.
  • Cyberstalking post.
Does anyone else think there should be more options added to the dropdown?

Three of those four would be so rarely used, there would be no point. I agree there could be more options, but those certainly wouldn't be the ones I'd choose.

This is just my preference, but I would rather users just free text the issue unless it's something truly routine.

I agree with you, but I think "double" is a truly routine deletion reason that we ought to add. That is by far the most common reason I report posts.

In the old forum, I recall there used to be options that were associated with many of the site-specific rules (e.g. A vs B flamebait, double posts, etc). Now, two of the four are essentially never applicable to posts I report, so it’s either “off topic” or “other” followed by me having to write up the reason.

Also, I’ve reported this before but I’ll mention it again: When reporting posts, the option to take me back to the thread I was just reading doesn’t work. When I try it, it just takes me back to the main forum, which is annoying/disruptive when I’m in the middle of a thread and find a post I need to report. Sometimes I’ll open the report post link in a new window or tab, but it’s still a bit annoying.
