Discussing Russia and Ukraine on a.net

Thu Dec 20, 2018 12:24 am

It has become impossible to have any serious debate on any Russia or Ukraine related topic on a.net.

The pattern is always the same: some thread is started on a Russia or Ukraine related topic, the Russian trolls come in, the debate degenerates into a shouting, insulting, and propaganda match, and the thread gets locked by the moderators.

In the end, the Russian trolls win. They have succeeded in making any serious debate about Russia or Ukraine impossible on a.net.

I would like to ask the moderators to find a better solution than simply locking each and every thread that deals with Russia or Ukraine related issues.

One thing that I would suggest is not to take the bait. If the trolls insult, ignore them & continue discussing the matter at hand. They shout at you, you respond to them politely. Then you can easily avoid the insults etc that led to Russian threads being locked.

Why even respond to them at all? Many users on here are completely incapable of conversing as an adult, so why even entertain them? Any response to them is just going to encourage them to escalate...
