That's strange. The only restrictions we have on posting are for a new user's first two posts (they must be approved by a moderator). There is no time limit between posts. I assume it was some sort of site error, but if you can replicate it, please take a screenshot and email it to us at moderators@airliners.net so we can forward it to the developers.

It's the inbuilt spam protection. Usually appears when you've accidentally double posted. Should be no more than 30 seconds.

:checkmark: I have never seen it unless I accidentally tried to double-post.

Interesting. I've never tried doing it — not sure why one would. Unfortunately it doesn't prevent the dozens of double posts every day from people impatiently clicking submit.

i think you can blame that on a.net's flaky servers and their poor response times.

I saw this problem back when the server got different posting times based on which network you were on when submitting the post. It was related to the same problem that caused posts to show up out of order, and replies to appear above the original message sometimes. If I posted one message from my phone (whose network gave a time stamp several minutes in the “future” on a.net) and another from my home network (which was only 1-2 minutes in the future), I’d get that message because the difference in times between my second post and first post were less than 0 (based on the server’s recognition).

That seems to have been fixed a few months ago. I haven’t really tried posting two messages in quick succession since then, so I don’t know if there is a built-in delay or not. Double posts are annoying, and it’s unlikely that anyone could really post a new, meaningful reply to a thread only 30-60 seconds after their last one.

I made this test post, and it appears to have cleared less than 30 seconds after the one above, so if anything, the “time out” time is too short. IMO it should be at least 30, if not 60 seconds, for reasons already noted. However, the error message banner that pops up should specify the time-out duration. That way, folks double-clicking the submit button will know that the rejection is because of a post they made just now, and not one a few minutes ago, and therefore they don’t need to resubmit the same post again.
