GDPR Announcement

Thu May 24, 2018 9:05 pm

In compliance with GDPR, Airliners.net VerticalScope will have a consent framework in place for EEA users.

This means that when you visit our site from the EEA, you will be prompted with a consent window for personal information, which you can opt into - and can be revoked at any time. If you don't opt in, you will receive non-personalized ads, which adhere to GDPR, and no personalized cookie data will be collected.

GDPR does not apply to non-EEA visitors. If any EEA members reach out asking to restrict the processing of their personal information, please refer them to our updated privacy policy or administrator account. We suggest that our moderators and administrators not provide legal advice or explain GDPR.

If EEA members are looking for additional information on GDPR, you may direct them to the legislation itself: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=uriserv:OJ.L_.2016.119.01.0001.01.ENG&toc=OJ:L:2016:119:FULL

I have never seen this consent window. Is it active yet?

When will my personal data be protected by using https to access the site?

I would really like to see this update too.

Just in the last few weeks I am getting a message in red font in front of the URL when logging in. ‘Website not Secure’ with this symbol ! inside a circle.

I assume it is a feature of an iOS update? Still, it is very useful to know or as a reminder even though with this site I already knew. :boggled:

The company that runs this site (and hundreds of others) has a long history of data breeches going back years. There has been zero change since the last one. Its not a priority.

https://www.verticalscope.com/about-us/ ... pdate.html

The last link is a doozy. No indication of making the sites secure, just reminding you to have a really long password. I would have unique passwords for your accounts here as they are not secured at all.
Stay curious
