Video reports welcome?

Fri Apr 20, 2018 1:31 am

I was looking through the posts on this forum and noticed every trip report has been done in photos. When I fly, I like making extensive trip reports, with the same level of detail as done in the photo reports, but on videos posted to YouTube. Are such posts welcome on this forum, or are photo reports preferred? If there is a preference, what is the reasoning? Thanks for any input!

Existing trip reports:
BWI-SEA on Alaska Airlines B738
BWI-LAX on Alaska Airlines B739
LAX-BWI on Alaska Airlines B738
JFK-AGP on Delta Air Lines B752
BWI-AUS on Southwest Airlines B737
AUS-BWI on Southwest Airlines B738

Upcoming trip reports:
BWI-ATL-EZE on Delta Air Lines MD88, A333
EZE-ATL-BWI on Delta Air Lines A333, MD88
IAD-CDG on Air France A380
CDG-IAD on Air France B772

Hi BWIAirport,
Forum rules have recently been updated (for the best):

A.Net Members,

As part of our 2018 Forum Rules Update, we have fundamentally changed a number of items pertaining to the Trip Reports Forum.

A growing trend in recent years has been users posting Video Trip Reports/Vlogs. While not specifically addressed in our current set of rules, it is addressed in our update.
[....]
Just for clarification:
    - Videos posted with little or no narrative are not permitted.
    - Trip Reports which are primarily in Video/Vlog format MUST have a disclaimer in the title that it is a Video Trip Report.
    - Using an image hosting site or personal blog to link to more pictures is permitted, but ONLY in the Trip Reports Forum.
    - IF LINKING TO A PERSONAL BLOG OR WEBSITE -- All text from the Trip Report is required to be included within your post, and some attempt must be made at including a few pictures. Personal blogs or websites may only be utilized to reference additional images.

Feel free to check the entire thread and ask any question here:

As eastafspot mentioned, we have updated our rules, and the link included in that post has some fairly extensive discussion.

We do allow video trip reports now, but it should also be accompanied by a narrative of reasonable length (something that at least provides some relatively detailed insight to your trip). We will still remove threads that only have links with a couple of paragraphs of text. Often those kinds of posts are from people using our site to promote their YouTube channel or blog, which is not acceptable to us. We still want users to make some effort with their posting.

If you decide to post a video trip report, the new rules require you to start your title with, "VIDEO ONLY:". This is to provide notice to users who only wish to read traditional trip report with pictures.
