User Reference Guide - Your feedback and suggestions required!

Sat Feb 10, 2018 1:34 pm

A.net community

With the new rules now been made live now the moderators next project is to develop a User's Reference Guide. Our plan is to introduce a reference section to provide valuable information for the whole a.net community. We hope by providing such a resource will help improve posting overtime and eliminate some of the low quality posts we currently see.

Though we have only briefly discussed this to start with the following is what we would like to add

New User Guide/FAQ - providing a tool for new users to navigate the site with ease, the current FAQ is very generic and we would like to make something specific to a.net
Abbreviations List - A list detailing various aviation abbreviations such as MRO, CRM etc
Airport Codes List
Aircraft Type List

We would appreciate your feedback, whether it is a particular question you would like to see in FAQ, or an abbreviation or another list not listed above, note this is just the start of what would be a valuable tool for all users. As per usual we would like to see sensible suggestions, any suggestions which are silly or ridiculous will be ignored.

Thankyou

I would like to suggest making it easy to open the lists from within the CivAv, MilAv & Tech/Ops forums alongside existing threads even if it's just providing links at the top of those forums. I imagine most people won't be keen on having to note down various codes/abbreviations so that they can be looked up later.

Will we just use existing browser tools to search these lists?

Personally I prefer the 'hover-over' tool for airport and airliner codes. I know that it's on the list but no date yet. Your ideas maybe helpful.
