US Cities and Airports that deserve their own thread

Sun Sep 03, 2017 9:02 pm

Hey guys,
This is my first post outside the Civil Aviation forum so I apologize if this doesn't belong here.
What cities and airports do you guys think deserves their own thread right now?
Here's what I think:
The Chicago area (ORD, MDW, GYY and RFD)
The Washington Area (IAD, DCA, BWI)
The San Francisco area (SFO, OAK, SJC)
The Los Angeles area (LAX, ONT, SNA, SBD)
DFW and DAL
IAH and HOU
DEN
SLC
LAS
PHL
Any others?
If any of the airports I listed already have threads, please point this out to me.

Thank you

I've actually been thinking of starting a Washington Area thread. You don't need permission from us, though. If you want a thread, you're free to make one any time. If you want it to be a continuous thread like the others, just let us know beforehand so we can help you with getting it started. Some threads move very quickly and are reset every month, but most are done now on a calendar year basis. All of the ones you mentioned would probably be based on calendar year, but if an LA thread moved as quickly as the Australia or Irish thread, then we could always reevaluate.

I'm a big proponent of continuous threads, because they act as subforums for more general discussion. Rules regarding "on-topic" discussion are a lot more flexible from a moderator perspective, so it allows for a more free flowing conversation. Some people feel that all PHX related news should be in the PHX thread for example, but I think that noteworthy events should still have their own topics.

If anyone wants to start their own continuous thread, just PM me and I'm happy to help get it started. It doesn't just need to be one airport or city — it can be a state, region, country, airline, fleet type, etc.

Defintely agree that Chicagoland and Illinois probably deserve their own thread! One started a few years back but I think got closed because no one posted for a bit. Didn't realize mods could keep those open for longer stretches when they go quiet for a bit.

But seems like with as many threads about ORD/MDW+associated hub operators and to a lesser extent, Gary/Miwaukee/Rockford threads, pop up...Chicagoland+Illinois should certainly be viable.
