Putting the production threads at the top, with the 2 announcement threads

Mon Aug 21, 2017 8:26 am

Good morning everyone,
Could the threads detailing the production and delivery lists be frozen to the top of the forum, like the 2 announcement threads. I spend more time on them and I'm sure I'm not the only one who does. It would save us having to search for them.
Hawk.

I advocate timing out these announcement threads

New joiners can be given access to the relevant new poster thread. The "news" about the purchase of a.net is no longer newsworthy. These announcement threads just fill up the top half of the screen

As to freezing the "production" threads, maybe not everyone shares your view that they are the most interesting, so maybe leaving them to float by last posting date/time is the fairest, i.e. the status quo

The announcement threads are there for a reason. They are there for the crew to communicate with the a.net community on an important issue. They are not there for particular threads to basically be put there so we don't have to search for them. Occasionally we may pin a thread that sees high activity, this would be for something like an air show. I don't think it its fair for us to have the production threads at the top while there are other threads that see far more comments relegated down the list. Most of the production threads see only about 100 comments a month, sometimes 150 where as there are other threads which see double or triple the amount of posts a month. I would suggest that if you don't want to search for them, keep a copy of the link to the thread so it can be easily located.

The current announcements will be soon sent to the Site Related forum and a new announcement will be put there instead. The moderators are currently updating the forum rules and once we are ready to announce them they will be put in a thread as an announcement so all users are aware of the changes

I've never look at them, why would I need to see them pinned?

You can of course, use your browser as designed and bookmark/favourite the relevant threads then you'll have your desired direct link.

Another solution is to use the bookmark feature of the forum software.
