I follow this Forum since many years , i decided to make an account short time ago. But i will leave again.
There is so much hate and racism in this forum...people hate Americans for their US Airlines Business, immediatly if some topic comes up about Air India they shout against Indians, when it comes to ME3 there is like a war against these countries..and now the worst, the United thing where people started to talk about the nationality of this poor passenger which foult it never was to overbook a flight. All this fighting because one loves an Airbus or a Boeing, all this I love a Boeing 757 or i love an Airbus 380..all these discussion immediatly turn into heated discussions and personal shouting to another member . We talk about planes here, pieces of metal,many talk about them as the planes are humans with souls . And when you love your whatever favourite airline then do it but let others lover their airline too.I went through many topics and when it comes to Airlines flying into the country of another airline or when one prefers a plane over another it all starts to become a personal fight. It became like a big Kindergarten. Looking at the many topics of like " why they dont use the 757 again with newer engines or build another A310 or 767 ...would you build a volkswagen beetle again because it was such a nice car in its time ? Put airbags inside and it still is not a modern car.
Really, the discussion about United and this passenger gave me the rest . How can there be so many emotions about this ? There are so many things that happened here and i really dont know how many members are real live airline professionals but it seems to me there are a lot that have aviation as their hobby which is absolutely fine but many of them are the once who shout the loudest.

This said , i hope some will reflect about what i am saying and i know , with this topic i will get only answers like " if you dont like it here go " , or " you with your ..number of topics want to tell us something ? " . No problem .. i am done with this here . Happy landings to all of you.

I don't blame you at all. Frankly, with each passing day I grow closer to saying, "Eff this place, I'm out."

And unfortunately it's being driven by a small, yet vocal, group of users.

I hoped a lot that the moderators would define clear rules here and tell everybody to in now way get political or racist here ( and yes there are a lot comments which are racist ) . But it happens immediatly if a new topic starts regarding ME3 or Air India or US Airlines ...people here just cant stop their emotions then and start. if they have no arguments. to get personal . But everybody should think about , if he would be an airline manager , what he would do to max out revenues or if he would be an aircraft manufacturer that he things " yes my A380 is the best plane ever " or " yes my Boeing 737 is the best ever " ..so what ? Talk about the pros and cons but leave emotions aside. And never blame any people from whatever country they come from !! The moderators can not be everywhere all the time ( as highlighted on the forum rules page) and we rely on members to notify us of problem members/posts.

Everyone gets brave hiding behind a computer screen.
Best is to avoid wasting time with the negative people & focus/communicate with those that are positive.
If needed point the violation to the moderators.

Frankly if you cannot develop a thicker skin on THIS forum, you´ll probably have a lot of trouble on OTHER forums. This is one of the best managed, moderated and controlled forums out there. Heck, I sometimes get irritated on what I believe is OVER moderating on threads. You just joined a month ago...how does a month gives you a meaningful experience of what is a.net. It´s not for nothing.I´ve been here for what, 14 years? Don´t let the door hit you on the way out!

I'm kind of with the OP on this one. I don't bother posting as much as I used to. And I don't think responses like the one above really help the situation...

Nope, not true. I joined by paying 25USD, and I never was a "quality poster". And judging by complaints emailed to mods and support before I know that it did not ensure quality posts or posters.

Sorry, but that's a no. You paid to be able to post in our forum, and we delivered that functionality for several years before it became free. And you still can post, so we have not limited the functionality you paid for.

And, per the Terms of service which you agreed to when you joined:

Make it paid members only, ie., including ability to read.

Issue is not members(paid or unpaid), issue is years of agenda editing. There is a thin line between moderating and agenda editing. Supporting so called fact tellers and some members gaming the SD feature with the support of agenda editors.

Glad RR is gone otherwise everyone has to believe in sacred cows.
MH370 proved lot of resident experts wrong, they disappeared.

Haven't seen this issue on any other forums. They discuss lot more controversial topics in a civil manner without moderators sanitizing frequently.

May be Jeff can offer some training now a.net is under VerticalScope.

You can just read the forum, maybe reply to a few topics here and there, but just do other things outside of this forum. It's not the be all and end all. Enjoy life away from the forum. Go out for a walk, take up running, ride a bicycle.

You'll approach the forum discussions differently - if someone wants to fight to the bitter end, they can do it - you just won't care.

To the OP: I don't know what your experience is here, but the negative, vitriolic tones go beyond just racial...

Years ago, I got buried alive in the civil aviation forum for my DL MD-90 in 717 acquisition predictions, which were before these deals were official. Mind you, this was at the height of 737NG/A320 bias - with know it all anti-MD critics in full force. (Google search a 300+ post DL 717 thread on this website from early 2012).

For the record, in the end DL acquired 49 MD-90s and 91 (and counting) 717s!

I completely agree with you. In my view, this place has become dominated by a few Europeans who hate the United States and will turn ANY topic into an anti-American tirade. It's pathetic. I guess the mods are too afraid to hurt someone's feelings because they never remove the posts. Disgusting.

I used to have a paid membership. Now I wouldn't pay €1 to join.

Indeed it is. There have been many new users that have hundreds of posts in under a month with abrasive opinions and wildly inaccurate facts on many different threads.

I noticed that a few of these so called 'resident experts' were still somewhat active until paid membership ended. I have not seen many of them since. So the end of paid membership could have been a reason for disappearing in itself, or, could have been used as a scapegoat to mask another reason such as the one that you suggest...

I'm not afraid to do anything, but that doesn't mean I'm going to silence someone's opinion unless it's a clear violation of the rules. These forums exist as a means to express one's self, regardless of who agrees or disagrees. It isn't our place to judge someone's opinion, only to ensure the content fits our rules.

As we mention very often, we simply do not have the ability to review every post. We're all working professionals, many of us in the industry. I'm an air traffic controller myself. We volunteer a significant portion of our time to keep the site running day-to-day, but we will all admit that we miss things.

That's why we have the Report feature. If you see something that's a rules violation, then report it for our review. I know you use the feature, because I've handled reports from you before. However, we're not going to remove something on the basis that you disagree with it. That doesn't make me afraid to take action, that's my respecting a user's right to express their opinion. I think that you'll agree you wouldn't want us restricting your freedom of speech provided it's within the rules. I'm American, and some anti-American posts frustrate me as well, but I can't inject my own bias or beliefs on the premise that it annoys me -- I need justification based on the published rules, and I will never take prejudicial action against a user simply because I don't agree.

I'm outtie too. Every single user here seems to spew bias and bs. Joining the BS game was fun for a bit, but no longer
