Sidebar and top advertisements

Wed Feb 22, 2017 1:12 am

I get that anet is very affordable to be a part of (or free if you just lurk!) - so advertising is necessary. But the ads on here are overwhelming.

The sidebars regularly "wash" over the content making it impossible to see the actual posts. The top one often loads slowly and suddenly jerks the material around once it completes. Is there a way to make these less obtrusive?

Try Adblock Plus. I use it for more then one year now and it works well. It'free, easy to install, setup and maintain and is available for IE, Firefox and Chrome.

I really try to avoid using ad blockers in general. Ad revenue is an important way for websites I like to stay up and running. I'd rather see anet change how they format ads before I block the outright.

You have a point that the site owner needs revenue from ads. I guess the advertiser decides how their ads are shown and not the site owner. Therefore I use adblock plus. A.net has no policy to ban adblockers as I heard from one of the moderators some time ago.
