Boeing Customer Codes No Longer in Effect

Fri Jan 13, 2017 11:52 pm

Good Evening,

Seeing photos posted here of United Airlines 777-300ERs that are being quoted as 777-322ERs. None of these airplanes are actually -322ERs as Boeing no longer uses customer codes with aircraft delivered after August 2016. I notice that there are no dropdowns in place for 777-300ERs with regards to the versions. Can this be added and all planes amended to what their actual codes are?

Thanks in advance,
JSD

This is correct, Boeing have dropped the 2 -digit Airline Code from its model type for the current build Boeing 737, 747, 767, & 777 as of August / September 2016.

B737 - From line number 6082 now known as either 737 - 800, 737 - 900, or 737 - 900ER
B747 - From line number 1534 now known as either 747 - 8 I (Intercontinental) or 747 - 8 F (Freighter)
B767 - From line number 1102 now known as 767 - 300 F (only Freighters in current production)
B777 - from line number 1422 now known as 777 - 300 ER or 777 - F (Freighter)

The 737 MAX models will be known as 737 - 7, 737 - 8, & 737 - 9 bringing the numbering convention into line with the B787's.

So for example where Ryanair 737-8's were previously 737-8AS EI-FRX c/n. # 44746 is a 737 - 800 and not 737 - 8AS.

The editors have been made aware of this and will likely take action if they deem needed. Thanks for the info!
