Any new info on MyAviation.net?

It's been awhile since the long thread here about Myaviation.net. I was just wondering if there are any updates on its return? I'm not holding my breath but I'd LOVE to have it back up and running at least long enough to retrieve all my photos. I know it's probably not gonna happen but I just thought I'd ask.

I am also waiting for any news.. I have all my old photos on myaviation.net and my local backups got stolen :-/ so I am relying on DM to let us even for a short time or even for a fee to have access! MyAviation.net has been closed down permanently and it is highly unlikely you'll be able to get your photos back.

Hello PanAm_DC10,

I am sad to hear this.. thank you for your info anyway. What would be necessary for DM to give us hundreds of users who have their pictures there to be able to have access to them, even for a fee I would agree!

I completely agree. And also the view stats please, if possible - it was quite satisfying to see one's photos get several thousand views..

Nope, doubt it. As far as I know the can't be retrieved even if they wanted to.

We have the domain but working on the images.

Once I know more I will update, lotta good stuff in the works.

Matt and Paul have really been making some nice headway for the screeners/crew and some suggested changes are in the works for the community.

We have the domain but working on the images.

Yes there is a chance it may come back it just depends on the status of the photos but either way VerticalScope have the domain name and can do with it what they wish. Hopefully they can get the images from Leaf Group/DM

Wow that would be awesome and hopefully they do get the images back! There really aren't any big aviation sites out there that allow uploading photos without having them rejected! It'd be nice to upload pictures straight out of the camera with only resizing and removing dustspots as the editing. I think photos in their original form have a lot more value than those adjusted for brightness, contrast, leveling and cropping. In the past with film and not having photoshop a lot more effort was put into the exposure and framing whereas with digital there's no problem to take a series of "bad" shots and edit them later as I've done on numerous occasions for A.net. If myaviation comes back I'll definitely upload my pics there not worrying about the perfect brightness/contrast adjustment, crop/motive, sharpening and leveling among other things!

I too would be quite interested in retrieving some images that were lost elsewhere, and would be willing to pay to have that happen. .

It was discussed with all crew members and it was decided that it would be best to work on fixing items on the squawk sheet first, to my understanding it is something that is planned to be brought back at some stage however its just a matter of prioritising things at this point in time

It is still on the list but since we just moved to Google Cloud and have upcoming SSL/HTTPS they have taken priority

MyAviation.net already exists. You can dump junk photos onto Instagram like everyone else is doing.

Its a bit different than that, but I understand your point. I could imagine value though in a "sister site":where any number of ideas that have been proposed for A.net might be judiciously tried, to see how much promise they might have, without disrupting A.net. And besides it wasn't all "garbage", and the site was not exactly taken down in a customer friendly manner to begin with. I took great care to preserve my images, and succeeded to a very large extant, however things happen, and not everyone had all their images in the cloud at the time.. . and things happen to back-ups, shoe boxes and whatever else. I would appreciate the chance to retrieve a few that I did. lose ..

waiting with bated breath to see the return of myaviation.net one day soon. It was a repository of nostalgic and historic pics from all around the world regardless of weather conditions and photography skills. We've had quite a few memorable moments captured from my part of the world - VABB on myaviation.net. please bring back that fantastic aviation photography database.

Don't want to burst a bubble but I highly doubt that is ever going to happen. AFAIK, back then when the site was bought, the DB of Myaviation was completely lost, so if anything does come back, it will most probably start from cero.

If your photo was popular, you may be able to find it on web archives of the site, especially for categories with less photos.
