How to remove "similar topics"?

Tue Jul 12, 2016 8:48 am

Is there a way to remove the "similar topics" crap that takes up the full screen when you scroll to the bottom of a thread to make a reply? I have no interest to be informed of American political threads in non-aviation nor any topics for that matter. I am quite capable of finding topics that may interest me myself without Demand Media's "help". Thank you.

Thanks for the info but that's not what I asked. I asked how does one remove or hide it? If it was there on the old site then it is news to me as I never saw one.

To my knowledge you can't hide it

You did, just it was much smaller and now when anything is so big it's quite annoying. As a suggestion to developers, it's makes sense to put similar topics down bottom navigation string (and possibly find a way to collapse - or remove to some control panel - "options" tab which is unnecessary big too).

Simple solution: don't scroll all the way to the bottom. The last post is never at the very bottom of the page (and wasn't on the old site either - yes, "similar topics" was there, too).

No need to use the word crap, in my opinion. I actually like this "service".

As I am responding to your message, these are the "Similar Topics" listed:

AA To Remove Narrowbody IFE
Delta to remove planned Sat 717 LAX-YVR service, becomes all A319 mainline
UA IDB's boarded passenger who refuses to leave. Police called to physically remove him.
TSA Testing REQ to Remove More Items from Bags
EK instructed by Chinese government to remove Taiwanese flag from crew uniform

Other than the word "remove" in the titles, how are any of these at all similar to this topic? It may be a good idea in theory, but as with the site search engine, it sorely lacks in execution.

And JohnKrist, thank you for the link to the board preferences page, that is handy!

You are right. They are not similar. But I am not looking for similar topics. Every now and then I just happen to find interesting topics listed under the similar topics. That's what I like about it.

I am happy with the similar topics underneath this thread. Clicked on most of them. Interesting reads.

So maybe what's needed is a "Random Topic" list... ;)
