I mean in the photo stats - where it says how many pics you have in each area - how about adding the file names too so we know which photo is where?

Such a system has been called for for years, yet never implemented.
Whether the administrators don't have the wish or the capabilities/capacity to implement it, it's not being done.

It would also be useful to be able to call up a list of your own pictures - mainly to avoid repeat uploads etc

Don't be too hard on the admins... I agree, that would be nice and helpful... However, as a web developer myself, I can tell you such things can't just be written and tested overnight... And that's assuming you can justify and allocate the time and expense to do it in the first place.
Now I don't have any idea how much money Johan et al are making on A.net, but if I had to guess, I'd say this site is mostly a labor of love... However, it is an exceptionally well-loved site
! I think it is well designed, easy to use, and nice looking... But the problem with that is users begin to expect it to do everything... And I imagine the admin(s) don't have bottomless resources. Web sites that work off contributions and banner ad revenue tend to make minimal revenue, if any. Maybe revenue from First Class memberships will lead to some new tweaks and improvements, but don't take it personally if you make a suggestion and never get a response, or never see your idea implemented. I'm sure they keep a list of things they'd like to add, and they have priorities among those items.
