Uganda lists its curvy women as new tourism product

Sat Feb 09, 2019 6:27 pm

The Ministry of Tourism has added curvy and sexy Ugandan women to its list of tourism products to attract foreigners.
Tourism is Uganda's top foreign exchange earner with the country earning $1.4 billion last year, according to government statistics.

Most tourists visit national parks for diverse wildlife species such as gorillas, birds and other animals. The source of Nile River is also a prime attraction including crater lakes and mountains.

In a bid to grow the sector's revenues and attract more tourists, Uganda has added curvaceous women to its lists of tourism products it offers.

A good idea?

I was going to say this thread is worthless without pictures, then I looked at the article. Nevermind.

So they want to become the Ukraine and Moldova of the 1990s.

If I were one of those interested, my primary concern would be the prevalence of HIV.

Another move by Uganda that does nothing to help the stereotypes of sub Saharan Africa or developing nations in general.

This misnomer of calling women "curvy" who are fat needs to stop.

Curves are great. Curves can be sexy. Obesity isn't and never will be no matter how you move the semantics goalpost.

It's "just" 6.5% in Uganda, which is not that bad at least compared to Southern part of African continent (where HIV rate is >20%) :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

Hey now, at least from that picture in the article, Uganda "curvy" women >>> American "curvy" (aka morfully obese) women :duck: :duck: :duck:

On a more serious note, though, I just don't see how this is a good idea. Not in 2019 at least (If this is 1980s/1990s, yeah, nobody will bet an eye).
