Pope Francis confirms priests' abuse of nuns included "sexual slavery"

Wed Feb 06, 2019 12:54 am

Boy the Catholic Church just goes from strength to strength...

"Nuns have suffered and are still suffering sexual abuse at the hands of Catholic priests and bishops, and have even been held as sexual slaves, Pope Francis confirmed on Tuesday. The abuse was so severe in one case that an entire congregation of nuns was dissolved by former Pope Benedict.

The scope of the abuse of nuns by clergy members first came to light with the publication at the beginning of February of the monthly Vatican magazine "Women Church World." "

Vatican magazine Women Church World :rotfl: ...I bet the subscribers are near 100% men.

But wait! There's more!

"in some cases nuns were forced to abort priests' children - something Catholicism forbid"

Ah, no problem - say three Our Fathers and a Hail Mary and it’s all good.

The article says the "Community of St. Jean in France".

All this confirms my theory that 50 % of all clergymen (most certainly from all religions, not only roman catholics) are in their job not because they believe in their respective creed but because they know that they have almost unlimited power over their congregations and can abuse it at will.

I don't think it is premeditated/planned in the majority of "actives".

Ever seen "Sleepers" ( or read the book )?

But it is a "scoped in" lever to those working up in the hierarchy. Any hierarchy.
( really "clean" persons are never allowed to rise as they are deemed a danger to the established powers. no control.)

you'll notice that close knit power groups tend to share a common but more or less secret depravity.

The Roman Catholic Church is losing what little respect it had by the continuing outing of sexual criminality and cover ups. It has and will in the future pay out billions in damages, much more in insurance premiums, money that should be used to take care of the poor, see declining numbers of participants except from the poorest persons who won't be able to give enough money to sustain it.

I knew a priest who worked with our Boy Scout groups in my region, he even preformed the marriage of one of my brothers in the same year we found out decades later he molested a boy. While he never approached me or my 2 brothers, one has to wonder if he sexually molested some of my fellow Boy Scouts. He was outed in the 1990's, removed from duty by his order and died while living with his sister in Florida.

Like many Catholics, I was an active member of the faith until my Senior year in High School, stopped going, as did my father, to church on Sundays, likely as needed to time to work, or seeing that the Church really didn't do anything spiritually for me anymore.

For years there has been growing resentment and departure in the USA of many former active faith members who reject the Church's hate of GLTBQs, their absolutism against all Abortions inducing supporting violence, and supporting with aid and protections from law of millions of persons illegally in the USA.

Soon, the Roman Catholic Church will be a shell of itself, its churches become museums, its schools torn down and replaced by public ones or sold to some developer for overpriced housing or retail strip malls. its finances destroyed by lawsuits over sexual assaults and general apathy as to organized faith groups.

Maybe.

It's a simple theory after all. It's unprovable since the only way to do it would be to ask these people. And almost certainly nobody would admit that this is (or has become) his sole reason for being a clergyman.

Is the Catholic Church savable?

Until or unless parishioners starve the beast financially, nothing will change.

Benedicts pre pope environment ( Domspatzen and things) would go in that direction too.

The new guy making this public is quite the change. Wonder when they will kill him.
South American Catholic Church is a bit of a different beast than core RC.
North American Catholic Church really is irrelevant.

Apparently acting cult-like, and the part that was shut down was a splinter group acting even more like a cult.

In France the mainstream Catholic Church is pretty liberal, this has led to some groups being formed by more conservative people, some to the point of practicing old rites, Latin Mass etc.

Standard procedure. Guilt out the victims, quietly move the guilty to a new location.

Rinse and repeat.

If the Catholic Church was interested in sorting this out, abusive priests should be named, shamed and prosecuted (along with abusive nuns as well). Until that happens, it’s just window dressing. Action, not words.

Who would choose to be a Catholic after all this shit? I'm a recovering Catholic and if I chose to go back to a church, it would be the Anglican church because vicars can wear their hair down to their waists. I've got a pic of that somewhere.

First step would be to stop shielding them from procecution by misusing their statehood to hussle them away with new identities.

The catalyst of the collapse of the Catholic Church in Ireland was a bishop who had a child, yet preached the opposite. Religious preachers are like politicians- the medicine they propose for others is not for them.

No wonder the Catholic Church has lost all respect. The current pope is the only hope, yet is despised by the US and Opus Dei wing of the church for his left leaning opinions.

Opus Dei is another Catholic cultish offshoot.

They have a globalist marxist Pope, they won't excommunicate abortionists, they openly favor economic socialism, they rape and kiddie-diddle children, they had a stance of non-involvement through the Holocaust for crying out loud, and are dying on the vine in terms of the priesthood and nuns. Lovely.

Most full time members aren’t priests, but live a celibate lifestyle, whip themselves and wear barbed wire on their thighs.

Cultish, oh yeah.

They like money too. Lots of it.

Power is important - involved in government in Ireland, Spain and the UK over the last few years.

I think that describes most religion, and is a key reason religion in the West is circling the drain. That and education...
