NFL Playoffs

Fri Jan 11, 2019 7:25 pm

Who are you going with this weekend in the matchup?
What do you think will be the key matchups?

Colts Vs Chiefs -----Colts---- This is a bit contrarian, but the Colts look solid coming into this game. Luck and Mack are driving this team
Rams Vs Cowboys -----Rams ;Rams are just better at offense Goff, Gurley, Woods. and cooks
Chargers Vs Patriots ----Patriots ; The Patriots should be healthy enough to shed the chargers. The old qb battle. Brady may not have it all anymore, but he still has enough.
Saints Vs Eagles ----Saints: Saints are just too powerful for the Eagles that needed a missed field goal to advance
Older than I just was ,and younger than I will soo be.

Colts? Come on. Luck is inconsistent and KC is just too powerful. I think the Colts hold their own but fall short.

Rams are better and Dallas history in these games are so bad.

Pats going to have their hands full I dare say SD has the best Defense of teams left in the playoffs LOL that is scary.

Saints are logical choice but man is Foles something to watch and Eagles are coming together.

I agree with your NFC, but disagree with your AFC.

The Colts had their third look at the Texans to get that win. They will be seeing the Chiefs for the first time and that is a lot to take in all at once. Plus, the last time these two played in the playoffs the Colts came back from way down to stun the Chiefs back in 2013. This will be a revenge game at home for KC. I think it will be a big Chiefs win.

As far as the Chargers-Pats. I dunno, maybe I just really wanna see the Pats lose. Also, as a Broncos fan, I'd love to see an all West AFC championship game. Philip Rivers looks like a man on a mission this year and the Pats are not as well put together as they have been in the past.

Rams will roll and the Saints will cruise.

Colts Vs Chiefs -----Chiefs - Weather is going to be a factor, supposed to see some snow, and it's currently raining quite hard. The field is going to be a mess. Defenses do poorly on fields like this, the game is going to be a shoot out which favors the chiefs. Also, Luck plays in a Dome. I generally don't subscribe to that making a big difference, but with these conditions its definitely a factor.
Rams Vs Cowboys -----Rams - This one is too easy. Cowboys keep squeaking by, but this is as far as they go
Chargers Vs Patriots ----Chargers - Brady hasn't looked good this year, he seems off. Chargers have been a well oiled machine this season, i discounted them earlier this year. There's always the possibility that Brady and company magically show up like they always do, but I think the chargers are clicking on all cylinders.
Saints Vs Eagles ----Saints - Same as above, hard to stop a hot team with what the eagles can put up this year.

Chiefs all the way!!

I'd love to see the Chiefs repping the AFC this year. We need to get past the usual Patriots show.

My prediction if the Chiefs make it to the big game:
Against Saints: Saints win. Mahomes is on fire but rookie quarterbacks don't have the best SB record (Nick Foles notwithstanding).
Against Eagles: Chiefs win, big time.
Against Rams: Idk, I haven't been following the Rams.
Against Cowboys: IMO would be the most entertaining. It would be a very close game with good football on both sides, but I'd say Chiefs take it all.

Nick Foles was a rookie quarterback last season, I think not..(6th season)
Now if you're talking about qb's winning the super bowl in their first appearance: how about this group
Tom Brady
Joe Montana
Jim Plunkett
Eli Manning
Troy Aikman
Terry Bradshaw

My pick for this weekend: Cowboys over the Rams.

And I didnt know that about Foles. I assumed since he was backup that he was a rookie.

Pretty please, can we keep politics out of one thread on here, plus it's a shame for you, there have been some great games this year.

Anyways...

Chiefs
Rams
Chargers (I have to. enough of the New England dynasty)
Saints

3 of those teams have insainely good offenses, has the NFL finally tipped the rules far enough for the O to be more important than the D ? It sure looks that way.

I agree the weather will be a factor in the Chiefs Colts game. Because of that I believe the Colts running game and defense defeat the Chiefs
Rams Cowboys. If Gurley is healthy and if Goff has time to get his passes off I see the Rams winning in a close game. Gurley struggles and Ram defense cannot stop Elliot it will be a long night for the Rams.
Pats Chargers I am a Pats fan(full disclosure) but I see the Chargers winning.
Saints Eagles. Eagles were lucky Parkey is not a very good kicker otherwise they would be on vacation instead of playing in the dome tomorrow. That being said if the Saints team that shows up and plays like they did down the stretch the eagles win. If saints play like they did in midseason they win easily.

So I see Colts Chargers playing for the AFC championship( rumor game will be played in the Coliseum not at the Stubhub) and Saints Rams

KC coming out of the gate like I knew they would, wow their QB is just insane good. What we all thought Kaepernick was few years ago.

The Chiefs look hot, but remember a few years ago. Its was 38-10 Chiefs over Colts in the 3rd Quarter before Luck found his rhythm and ended up leading a comeback and a 45-44 Colts victory. Lots of football left.

Oh I agree, and I’m rooting for KC. Just sayin, lots of football to be played and a dubious Chiefs home playoff history to overcome.

True but this KC is much better as they are winners today and look real good. SD or NE going to have an issue with this team.

Very True. SD-NE will be a great game, but I don’t think either of them can go to Arrowhead and win in the championship game. Especially if the Chiefs D plays like they did today. (Assuming the Colts don’t score 17 points in the next 0:24 of course.....)

It's amazing how NE is always prepared and plays flawlessly and is prefeclty coached. SD better adjust on defense or they are toast.

Knew that fake was coming the Eagles should have taken the 3rd and long. Wow too many injuries for Philly but man is Foles playing good. I suspect no matter what happens Philly has to make him their QB and give him the big contract. Wentz still has some trade value. I am sure JAX will be calling.

I think the Eagles have to thing long and hard about it .
Wentz is younger and a better prospect. But he is injury prone.
Foles has moments of brilliance, but he also has issues.

I think the eagles stick with Wentz.

NO offense is so potent it's hard to keep quiet for long this will be a game till the end. As for Philly they do much better with Foles he just is magic for some reason and not sure what issues he has he took them all the way and was MVP last year his numbers are crazy.

Kaepernick was not a rookie when the 49ers made their last Super Bowl appearance. He spent the 2011 season on the bench behind Alex Smith. No rookie quarterback has ever won or started the Super Bowl. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/1846 ... hange-that

Next round of games coming up!

AFC Championship:
New England Patriots @ Kansas City Chiefs

NFC Championship:
Los Angeles Rams @ New Orleans Saints

I'm going to be honest, I did not expect the Patriots to put up the kind of show they did last weekend. Has me a bit nervous. This game is going to come down to game management. Something Andy Reid is terrible at. And he has a rookie QB who may not handle the situations in the best way. (Re: Chiefs vs Patriots earlier this year where instead of running down the clock they threw a long down field pass to Tyreek Hill for a TD, putting them ahead by 4 but leaving 3 minutes on the clock for Brady to march down the field and win the game). Still, I think they learned their lesson. Chiefs over Patriots 42-38

Rams and Saints are going to be an interesting game. I don't have as good of a feel for them.

I'm going to take Rams over Saints 35-31. Brees retires after the game.

I am going Opposite.
I think Tom Brady is riding the Peyton Manning last hurrah wave. He can't heave it like he used to, but Sony Michel can run and James White can catch on the short.
They are talking about the fact that the temperature may be -5 to up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit for the game depending on how strong the frigid blast is that will roll through on Saturday/Sunday
The wind will be down, but the cold is going to be a big factor.

I like the Patriots 28-22

On New Orleans-Rams.

It is going to be close. I expect an all out offensive battle.
New Orleans 48-Rams 40

The combines ages of the QBs in this years Super Bowl could be as high as 81 (Brady-Brees) or as low as 47 (Mahomes-Goff). There's no real point there, but I thought that was pretty interesting.

I like the Chiefs at home and the Rams for the upset win.

The weather could be a big factor in Sunday's AFC game.
Sunday's AFC Championship game between the Patriots and the Chiefs is expected to be an extremely cold one in Kansas City.

According Weather.com, Kansas City's 10-day forecast predicts a high of only 15 degrees and a low of 8 degrees when the two teams go head-to-head on Sunday. While no snow is currently in the area's forecast, various models predict Sunday's game time temperatures could range from -5 to 10 degrees, with an Arctic blast centered over Arrowhead Stadium.

As both teams are used to playing in the open air, I don't believe weather to be as big of a game changer. A factor yes, but not disadvantageous to either side.

I'm thinking it's going to be Saints and Chiefs in the Super Bowl. I just don't see the Rams going into N.O. and winning - if the game was in L.A. then they'd have a shot.
Chiefs just look like the better team than the Pats this year, home field will help them as well.
That being said, with my record of making accurate football picks, it'll probably be Patriots/Rams :D
