Cargo Plane Turned Restaurant Catches Fire !

Fri Nov 09, 2018 6:17 am

An Airbus A300, which was purchased by Konya municipality in Turkey in 2016 and turned into a restaurant caught fire last night. It took 1,5 hours to put out the fire.

It is always scary to see an aircraft in flames, whether it is an actual aircraft or a restaurant.

Awful to see; they had obviously put a lot of work into the remodelling.

Anyone know the history of this aircraft? Former airline/operator/reg?

i think it is an ex Japan Airline System frame, later sold to the now defunct Turkish airline Fly Air

Okay, since no one was injured, I feel free to bring it up:

"Elaine, what were our choices for dinner tonight?"

"Well, we had chicken or fish"

"Yes, I remember, I had the lasagna..."

I guess it will be reopened as an ARFF training facility.

Note to the Topic Author: this aircraft was never converted to a cargo hauler, only used in passenger service in Japan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Just thought of a good one...

This plane is (was) built to withstand anything.....except a bad cook.

I doubt if there is enough left for a fire trainer.

Will anyone save the nose/cockpit or has that already been stripped out.

I know, thou shalt not criticize the moderators, but how did this poor thread end in the non aviation section? It clearly has a reference to aviation...

Was in Istanbul last Saturday, there are still some stored A300s at IST. Maybe they will acquire another one?
