Georgia SecState Files Complaint Against Dems 2 Days Before Election

Sun Nov 04, 2018 4:50 pm

As far as I'm concerned, this is an absolute abuse of power by Brian Kemp.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/04/politics ... index.html

Claiming this, and then launching an investigation two days before the election that could make him Georgia's Governor? Shows again the GOP will do absolutely anything to keep power. Ethics mean nothing.

Just to clarify, the Georgia secretary of state, who is tasked with overseeing the state's election, is running for governor. He is a Republican and has made several attempts to disqualify thousands of voters and absentee ballots. This seems like a last-ditch and desperate attempt for him to hold power.
You bet I'm pumped!!! I just had a green tea!!!

Hopefully when Abrams wins, they can pass a law where such a blatant conflict of interest doesn't exist.

It's obvious that this election will not be accepted by the losing side, whomever that may be.

That Georgia Red Neck of a GOP Candidate was warned in the last election that his system was subject to hacking. They chose to ignore how open it was so I imagine that it's the GOP playing around in the database. They need some way to"adjust" the voting.

I love Pence’s response rushing down to campaign for Kemp, re: Oprah, Common, and Will Ferrell campaigning for Abrams:

“I’m kind of important too.”

Pathetic.

Different states but same results: minority voters in North Dakota and Kansas (Native Americans and Latinos, respectively) “probably disenfranchised” but too late to do anything about it now.

Republican officials, of course.

The whole scene of voter suppression is pathetic and so typical of Republicans these days. There was a time, I would cross over and vote Republican, not anymore, I would bite my finger off first. They are all like Automatons these days, unable to break away from the Dogma of the new Conservatives. The Tea Party corrupted them.

Alas, I’ve always been a Democratic voter due to LGBT, union rights, etc. I MIGHT’VE allowed myself to vote for Arnold Schwarzenegger for Governor in California — but just couldn’t do it in the voting booth. Glad I didn’t, as he vetoed same sex marriage.

The guy is a real POS. He has removed 1.4 million voter registrations since 2012 including 670,000 in 2017 alone. Guess who's been disproportionately affected as he goes into an election against an African-American woman. Not to mention his failure to secure the state's voting system from hacking when vulnerabilities were identified. He is basically the textbook definition of conflict-of-interest.

Kind of amazing. I know politicians are dirty and have no shame, but this is pretty bad. Even if this claim was true (I guess you never know but I'd put the odds at like 0.1%) the optics are just terrible. It really is a dirty, win-at-all costs kind of move made by a person already accused of shadiness surrounding the election

Sadly, moves like this work.......

The GOP really has turned into a party of pure scum. I used to cross the line too but wouldn't trade my values for a tax cut in a million years. The gerrymandering, this story out of GA..they make me sick to my stomach. But the one that really enrages me to no end is how the GOP in ND are systematically denying tribal Indians the right to vote by not only demanding IDs, but demanding that the IDs have street addresses vs. PO Boxes. Turns out people on the res don't always have street addresses and the ND GOP has been shut down numerous times for trying this nasty trick. But they did it yet again and now time's run out before the election to go the judicial route.

I wonder how many Repubs on this forum are proud of the ND story. You got your DL squared away but it still wasn't good enough was it. I guess fucking over the natives for the 612th time was just too much fun to pass up.

Something to think about RE elections, democracy and our democratic-republic form of government...

'There’s more to an election than mere votin’, my boy', for as an eminent American once said: ‘I care not who casts the votes of a nation if they’ll let me make the count.‘” —from Uncle Henry, a novel by George Creel, 1922.

I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this - who will count the votes, and how.” --The Memoirs of Stalin’s Former Secretary by Boris Bazhanov, published in 2002. Translated from the Russian, this version which, according to Bazhanov, was uttered in 1923 by Stalin in reference to a vote in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

It’s not the voting that’s democracy, it’s-the-counting, Archie says.” — from Jumpers, a play by Tom Stoppard, 1972.
