Twitter perma-bans Alex Jones

Thu Sep 06, 2018 9:22 pm

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ch ... s-infowars tells us:

Twitter wrote:
Today, we permanently suspended @realalexjones and @infowars from Twitter and Periscope. We took this action based on new reports of Tweets and videos posted yesterday that violate our abusive behavior policy, in addition to the accounts’ previous violations.

Why? Well, after previous incidents where he was asked to delete tweets and was given "time outs",

The incident that inspired Twitter to action appears to have been a series of tweets containing a nine-minute Periscope video of Jones confronting CNN reporter Oliver Darcy. In the video, Jones and his camera men confront Darcy while Jones lambastes him as "the equivalent of like the Hitler Youth" and accuses him of "smiling like a possum that crawled out of the rear end of a dead cow."

Pretty clear that would be a violation of their abusive behavior policy.

Maybe it's time he and his fellow super elites* put together their own platform.

* TRUMP WANTS HIS SUPPORTERS CALLED THE “SUPER-ELITE” BECAUSE “WE GOT MORE MONEY” AND “NICER BOATS”
“More brains” and “better houses,” too!

Alex Jones' behavior in regard to Rubio was abominable. I am shocked anyone can get that close that fast in the Capitol. He reap what he sows

Scary world we live in when big tech controls speech according to their bias, and half the country cheers.

.... so you are against shutting down Jihadists websites?
Alex Jones is a criminal and that he isn´t in Prison is a failure of the legal system.

The only sad thing is that Heckler & Koch have to stop selling weapons to a serial bank robber instead of the legal system looking him up for those already committed.

best regards

I'm not too sure that much has changed from the days when radio, television and print media was concentrated in relatively few hands and those hands also largely controlled what was publishable.

The real issue is that Jones was aware of what he was posting in full knowledge that he was violating the terms of use policies that he acknowledged to have read and accepted when opening his account. He has not been punished. His freedom of speech has not been curtailed in any way. He has simply had a platform withdrawn in line with the contract he the freely accepted.

Freedom of Speech does not impose an obligation on anyone to provide a platform. If he wishes to exercise his freedom of speech, he can always establish his own domain and server to spread his views, or approach another theatre prepared to stage his dramas.

Yup, that bias of not allowing people to encourage violence or other dangerous acts towards others...gee that sucks!

They've not controlled his speech. He's still free to spout his drivel, just not on that platform (rightly so).
He could have continued spouting it on twitter if he'd dropped the abuse, harrasment, encouraging of violence and other illegal acts which are contrary to their terms & conditions of use (and quite frankly against the laws of your own land).

With free speech comes responsibility. Something these blowhards tend to forget.

Umm...b/c there are no laws that say that a PRIVATE corporation can or cannot do. Isn't "deregulation" and "get big goberment out of our business" a Republican mantra?

Want to stop "big tech" from "controlling" speech? Go ahead and pass a law similar to fairness doctrine. But wait, Faux News or Brainfart will now have to air "liberal socialist agenda".

Alternatively, start his own "big tech" platform. Go ahead. Wait, he ain't going to find some coders from his trailer park support base :stirthepot: :stirthepot: . I mean, he's not looking for some of the brightest chemist in the nation right now (by determining the correct ratio of battery acid to drain cleaner and some cold tablet, among a bunch of other chemicals that I won't ever touch in my life).

Just remember, the only thing that 1st amendment protect is that he cannot be arrested, by the gov't, for throwing out BS for years. And last I check, Alex Jones is still free, out there, continue to sprout out his BS.

I wish Rubio actually punches Jones in his face. And Rubio is just "standing his ground" since he feels "threaten" by some bearded man that he doesn't even know about anyway, so he didn't violate any laws. :stirthepot:

Fixed that for ya

Remember who is the one always whining and crying about "fake news" and "liars" and "failing media" and so forth.

Whatever happened to letting companies do what they want? Respond to market forces? Take action based on what the population wants? How much money does Jones generate for Twitter vs. Kim Kardashian or Rotten Tomatoes or Bieber? Maybe it was also a financial decision?
