Creamy vs. Crunchy

Thu Jul 19, 2018 6:58 am

Well?

Creamy peanut butter is the unassailably correct peanut butter, yet there are enough incorrect individuals out there constituting a market that obviously sustains the continued production, marketing, and distribution of gross crunchy peanut butter.

So what do we do? Do we take a pill and pretend there is nothing wrong with the crunchies? Or do we enact legislation to help these people?

I can't stand crunchy...extra-crunchy is the way to go. Smooth is good, too, but crunchy sucks. It is incorrect.

Neither.

Putting peanuts on bread is gross anyway, regardless if it is half or fully pre-masticated.

Depends on the application. On toast... crunchy. In a cookie/chocolate bar... smooth.

We seem to have lost our way just a teensy bit here, for you see civilization itself arose out of mankind's recognition that creamy peanut butter is correct and that the crunchy stuff is gross.

Let us all just take a few moments to re-align ourselves with humanity's core principles, then we can resume the discussion.

And 100% peanuts only. Hate the stuff with 20 different additives and preservatives.

Smooth creamy peanut butter over chunky/crunchy, every single time.

It's been a while since I had peanut butter sandwich, maybe I should go out and buy some...

Extra Crunchy Always.

But I'm not 12 anymore so if I eat any sort of peanut butter sandwich it's because my kids didn't eat their lunch.

This. We only buy the natural now (I think it has salt in addition to the peanuts, but that is it). The regular stuff tastes fake to me now.

You are correct. Crunchy peanut butter is just creamy peanut butter they forgot to finish making. This pro-crunchy crowd is probably the same group of people that pull the toilet paper from the bottom instead of over the top (which is the correct method, of course)

I swear by crunchy....even though my teeth are all gone. :(
Luckily my dentures are up to the task.
Sometimes when my neighborhood shops' supply ran out, I had to settle for creamy but I added some crushed peanuts into it. Works!

See my solution above for crunchy when there's only creamy available.

I beg to differ. Creamy peanut butter is just crunchy peanut butter they forgot to finish making completely. ;)

This is the objectively correct truth.

If you want crunchy peanut butter, just go eat peanuts (throw 'em in a blender first if that makes you happy). Anything with the name "butter" in it should not be crunchy.

A "Correct way to mount the TP - Over vs Under" thread would be very short. Anyone that says 'under' should be banned from Anet, and possibly the internet in general. Anyone that says sideways should be committed.

But you're correct, another topic for another thread. Back to crushed legumes!

Exactly! Are we to assume then that drinking an IPA is taboo then because it hasn't been allowed to continue on to it's final lager stage? I think not.

Well I had no earthly idea so I went to the cupboard to look.

Container said "natural" and "creamy" and best before "Oct 2012"

a. I had no idea they made peanut butter out of something other than peanuts that would be un-natural or artificial.
b. The container still has the seal on the lid and has never been opened.
c. Not sure of the shelf life to indicate best before date probably a year or more, so I thinking it is at least 7 years old.
d. Deposited the container in trash.

Summary: Peanut Butter is Okay as long as you do not get it in your mouth.

I feel that this is scenario dependent.

In Ice Cream or on Toast, creamy is the way to go.

On the connoisseur's choice meal of PBJ, crunchy is the best way

The body does not process already processed food the way it would process unprocessed food. In other words, if you eat a peanut, the body processes proteins in peanuts differently than it would eating peanut mash or peanut paste. That's the way I heard it, anyway.

Chunky all the way. Especially on peanut butter and honey sandwiches.

mmmmmmm.... childhoood.......

This is all irrelevant anyway. Peanut butter is not the correct nut based spread. That honour would go to hazelnut spread.

No it is not prohibited, but it is prohibited to send food by mail, even worse if the delivery has to be in a non-EU Country; if the food is not FDA et similia approved sending it will result in a heavy fine by the Customs.
