And I should note that I prefer things privately as well as I find it sort of adds to the fun of it all. I find the repression kind of exciting in a way, but i suppose others prefer it more exposed, so to speak.

I do agree that hardcore adult films aren’t best left for adults who understand the context and hopefully consensual nature of it.

When I was getting my first degree, I worked in a video store that did tons of adult film business and I always found it interesting that the “normal” appearing folks used to always rent the truly weird stuff and the “weird” looking people tended to get the vanilla genres.

Yes, I disagree with how overly sexual the Sydney Mardi gras are. I don't think it does the gay cause any good if it is designed to garner support from the wider public. I'm sorry if this is offensive to you. Ive also stated that although I don't agree with it, I don't expect it to be banned or censored in any way. It's not for me, but I'll just not tune in.

You on the other hand, disagree with me and call for my being banned. Typical reaction from the left when someone doesn't agree with their beliefs.

No different to religious zealots. Shut down any discussion of certain aspects of their beliefs that don't suit their agenda.

Go ahead and ban me. The terrorists have won

Oh GIVE ME A BREAK, Freaky. The terrorists have won because someone can argue that someone who repeatedly exhibits racist and homophobic behavior should be banned? Who knew that ISIS was all about the gays and protecting minority rights? With your flair for ridiculous melodrama, I'm surprised you're not one of us.

You should be banned because you're nothing but a provocateur and it's clear to see that this is some sort of social experiment to you. You asked a question, which you know you had zero interest in even beginning to understand the response, then latch on to your first opportunity to imply that a Pride parade is akin to watching porn with children. PUHLEEZE. It's obvious you've never been to one, but you have some sort of prejudiced (oooooh . . . a favorite word of the far right) conception in your mind, and you have transposed that on to an entire community. How did you expect your comment to be received? You state to someone who states (s)he thinks that Pride parades are an open display of sexuality and OK by them, "Well you must think that watching porn with children is fine, too."

I'm not surprised, though. When you were pvjin (last seen 9 months ago . . . what a coincidence, hey freakysh, who joined 10 months ago), it was all about Black Lives Matter and associating anyone who had a genuine ("sincerely held") interest in peacefully protesting police brutality was an "ungrateful thug," and you got banned back then for your typical provocative behavior by putting an MLK quote in your signature. These days your MO hasn't change much. A lot of energy spent telling people who post about Trump too much in your view to "get over it"--how would you categorize people who post belittling contrarian views just as often, especially when said person isn't even an American. And don't bullsh*t us some more with some feigned innocence, "I'm interested in having a dialogue," just like your feigned concern about what "damage" Pride parades do to the gay community's public image. BULLSH*T.

I personally don't give a crap how Pride parades make you feel, nor do I give a crap about how Black Lives Matter protests make you feel, nor do I care about how you feel about abortion, nor do I care about how you feel about religious cakers, nor do I care about what you think about people who are just a tad bit bothered over the Liar-in-Chief. You, for whatever reason, seem to want to drive your prejudiced view of the world down everyone's throat. Let me ask you . . . WHY?

This is just a game to you--just admit it and give up the ruse.

If anything has won, it's a toxic combination of fascism and willful ignorance.

That.was. EPIC!

that is what forums are about, let it all out bro, it's not healthy to hold in all that rage.

Ranks right up there with “go ahead and ban me, the terrorists have won,” eh? And any number of absurdly ridiculous things you and your “predecessor” (former self?) have been spewing for years. At least you don’t deny it, so credit where credit is due.

For me, it's a personal level I have.

My wife and I aren't sexual in front of our kids, aside from a simple peck or hug. Showing affection in front of the kids is good and shows them how a man and woman should treat each other.

We aren't sexual in front of friends, family or in public. We don't discuss our sex life with friends or family. It's something that is personal and I think should stay that way.

I then extend this thought process to something like a Mardi gras. If I was celebrating our marriage publically, I would never think to do that by having my wife straddle an inflatable penis whilst I thrust my hips in her direction wearing a g string.

Well that's one hell of a leap, eh, freaky? Maybe the problem ain't the "Mardi Gras-ers."

Freakysh wrote:
This is why I ask why does the Mardi gras community feel it necessary to celebrate their sexuality in this way. Dare I say it, but to me it comes across as very immature and insecure.

The point I was trying to make with hardcore porn and letting children watch was that acceptable behaviour is relative. I'll assume you disagree with this behaviour, but let's say someone sees nou issue with it. They genuinely think it is ok and does no harm. I think you would probably question it, as I am with the Mardi gras. We just have a different level of filter. I don't think children need to be exposed to it and some things are best left in the bedroom.

Ridiculous hyperbole aside (Why stop at equating a Pride parade with watching porn with children? Why not extend it to outright molesting them?), that was what you meant, yet NOT. WHAT. YOU. SAID further proving quite clearly that this is some sort of game with you.

Don't understand the hatred/bigotry toward a group of people who are still human but like a different group of people.

If you want a group of people to hate, try Blue ISIS. They are not human. They've sprung up in every town/city in the country and even have the backing of the government. They usually go by friendlier names such as "ABC Police Department" or "ABC County Sherrifs" so be careful when you're out there. Some people fortunately are fighting back but they still are being locked up for life because of it, don't understand why.

Well everyone can now rest easy tonight—High Judge Freaky doesn’t care if you’re gay or straight—he doesn’t want to see you on an inflatable penis because it can’t help but make him think of his wife on the same, with himself in a G string in close proximity. It’s just a “personal level” he has that he feels the need to impose on everyone else.

But hey, freaky, I’m a reasonable guy—I’ll do you a solid, freaky, and promise not to jump on one this weekend. Any others up for the No-Inflato-Dildo Challenge?

If you compare New Orleans and Brazil Mardi Gras, they do, to a point. The Friday night and Saturday night of Pride Weekend in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco is just drinking and dancing and (alleged) drug use and nearly or completely nude adults. No children because alcohol and night and all of that do not really go together. The difference is the actual Pride Parade. There are legitimate and teachable parts to it. Transgender groups and gay veterans groups and families headed by same gender adults. But, there are the obligatory bare chested "Dikes On Bikes" and well built men dancing in bulging jock straps.

I keep bringing that up because... well... well built men in bulging jock straps.

But, I digress.

No one wants children at such a sexually charged and drunken functions like Mardi Gras or Saturday night of Pride. *SOME* parents think it is acceptable. *MANY* do not. I am uncomfortable with children at the actual Pride Parade but I get it.

I think we can name two that would. The rest would just treat them different. Sad, but at least those 14 year olds would have resources and people to fall back on.

When I was 16, I saw an ad in the newspaper wanting to form an LGBTQ+ group for us to encourage and help each other. I called the number and, after a brief conversation, the woman told me to call back in a few years because I was not old enough to know anything about sexuality. It was hard enough to make that call and to risk being found out but, to then be shut out was brutal.

LGBTQ+ kids have it easy today....

PDX Pride is the weekend of Father's Day and I think SEA is the weekend after. And, no, we will not be attending. There are none near us and we have to work.

I think Pride Month should be a time of education and not just getting drunk and dancing. We need to educate people as to why we need Pride Month. Stonewall and The Upstairs Lounge and Matthew Shepperd and the countless others who came to the same end for no good reason other than who they love.

I agree wholeheartedly. Much of the younger generation(born after 1992-5) seems to have no clue in that regard but it's a delicate subject and somewhat difficult to broach in what is expected to be a fun and festive event.

And there should be celebrating and fun. But, we should never forget who we are and why we take June to celebrate.
