YouTubes assault on the First AND Second Ammendment

Sun Mar 25, 2018 1:38 am

YouTube will soon ban and delete all videos relating to guns and gun safety. Another branch of the liberal media continues its assault on the law abiding citizens who exercise their god given right to own a firearm and watch educational videos on the subject.

Just go to pornhub and watch them like a normal human being.

They have all the latest hit movies and albums on there for free, too.

Oh no, the scary LIBERAL MEDIA!!!

Seriously though, do you have some source for this info?, or is this something you pulled out of your ass? I highly doubt that even Youtube would pull down or ban ALL gun videos.

Do rednecks consider gun cleaning videos to be "educational"?
That reminds me of how educators in Idaho think feeding puppies to turtles is "science".

Redstaters are such odd ducks!

Well I just did a search, it's legit.

Guns on Pornhub.. Now the gun enthusiasts can jack off to women and guns on the same site! How convenient!

Since "conservatives" are supposed to be like the best and brightest people on earth it shouldn't be too hard to whip up your own competing platform.

You posted something similar around a week ago, including the same ridiculous phrase claiming a "god given right to own a firearm".
Several of us were puzzled then, but prepared to accept you were being ironic. Now it appears you actually believe this rubbish. :banghead: :

"God given right" :rotfl:
"watch educational videos" :rotfl:
"gun safety" - that just has to be an oxymoron

I'm honestly hoping this is an attempt at trollery, as bad as it may be, because if this is a genuine representation of the kind of fanatism and ignorance America is up against, the country as a whole is headed for dark and troubled times

"God-given"? If you want to be taken seriously you should consider your arguments and wording.

The Gun Lobby is making huge mistakes, and it is going to come back to haunt them. They don't support banning semi-autos, so mass-shootings are creating a swell to repeal the Second Amendment.

Is not You Tube a private company, able to do as it pleases to run its business without government or maybe union interference? Oh my!! I sound like a typical Conservative Republican. I had too much to drink obviously. Wait! I do not drink. :box: :banghead:

First Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petitition the Government for a redress of grievances. (Emphasis added)

Second Amendment
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Nowhere do I see any reference to YouTube or any other privately owned business. As far as I am aware, YouTube is not Congress, nor is it a branch of the Executive. It is not making laws but changing its terms of service. It is not preventing anyone from keeping or bearing arms but saying what videos and content it will host. Freedom of speech also includes the right to not repeat someone else's views.

Thanks Roy S, I used to not even be able to say this.

Not only does the current generation have no idea what the first amendment is.

They have no idea what the second is, either.

Quoted for emphasis. YouTube is not state run. YouTube is not doing this under state pressure.

YouTube has the right to do what they want. It's the same premise under which foxnews, infowars, and RT are allowed to exist, despite the damage they do to society.

Youtube isn't stopping you from owning a gun, they're a private company and if they don't want to show gun videos they don't have to. Set up a competing service, and call it gunholicsvideos.

So a private organization can choose what they sell and to who they sell right? Sort of like how that Christian bakery refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple... or does this only work when its approved by your left wing ideology?

Please educate yourself before making further asinine arguments about what constitutes a militia

10 U.S. Code § 246 - Militia: composition and classes:

"(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia."

Seems that way. Youtube's freedom is not being suppressed, which you'll be glad to hear.

So women and over 45 males aren't part of the militia, which means their rights to bear arms isn't immune from the state?

I assume all these unorganised militias will be ready to take up defence against the overwhelming threats they face? Canada and Mexico are just waiting to pounce, you have to be ready at all times. Thankfully the militia is regulated, well-drilled and trained...

If we are going to start requiring privately owned websites not be allowed to choose their content, then I am going to be giving Breitbart some money, the message would drive people nuts.

I think the easiest way to put it is simply that the First Amendment gives you the right to free speech, but it does not give you the right to a stage from which to exercise that right to free speech.

"watch educational videos"
ROFLMAO
youTube:
lots of dumb white trailer trash getting their nose broken from playing around with high powered riffles begging their moment of fame?

not really what I would deem "educational"

What about that educational video:

that a paperback is as good protection as a very expensive bullet proof vest"
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/mor ... bdee0dae04

not much else around on YouTube. Good Riddance (TM).

YouTube won't show a lot of videos as conflict with laws, culture, of legal liability in many countries they operate in as well as common business sense. As to gun related videos, part of YouTube's reasoning is fear of frivolous lawsuits from victims of gun shootings.

YouTubes assault on the First AND Second Ammendment

Sun Mar 25, 2018 3:03 pm

Just love the title: « YouTube *assaults* on the First AND Second amendment ».

Are you as upset about « People with free access to guns assault schools across the country and kill children, wreck families »?

And by the way, it’s « Amendment », with one n, not « Ammendment ». Kind of ridiculous to be outraged about the so-called assault on something you can’t even spell right.

And it’s « You Tube’s », not « You Tubes ». It’s the assault by You Tube, so the possessive of the singular, not the plural. There is only one YouTube.

Oh well, the usual uneducated drivel from people who think free access to guns is a « God given right ».

The ironic thing about this is that just a few months ago Google and Facebook were helping paint all sorts of horseshit apocalyptic scenarios of what would happen if net neutrality were to be repealed (content would be censored by Comcast/Verizon, etc.). Turns out all they really wanted was to ensure continued fast access to whatever information they allowed you to see.

I hope it is clear to you that "shall not be infringed" stops working if the Second Amendment is repealed. While I do not favor repeal, I am pointing out that a radical stance against common sense laws like outlawing bumpstocks is feeding a radical response - a call for repeal.

As for any gun law being unconstitutional, the state has to draw the line somewhere: Large magazines, semi-autos, bumpstocks, fully-autos, heavi machine guns, rifle granades.... Pretty soon you realize saying there shouldn't be any guns laws makes no sense.

And when was 10 U.S. Code 246 written, Little Asinine Sprocket?

I doubt in 1788.

I’m a TEXTUALIST. (I thought we just needed the Constitution?)

In any case if you and Jimbo have some sort of fantasy that you’re Jean Claude Van Damme (wait, he’s an immigrant ... let’s go with Steven “Pedders” Seagal) and need some guns to protect us against the Redcoats, I think most of us would tell you DON’T BOTHER ... WE’RE GOOD.

Also that such an idea is the epitome of ASININE.

Sorry you perpetual whiners had such a bad weekend. (Also, sorry about the Little Sprocket. The gun thing is making more sense now.)

That's not a valid comparison, one compares denying a similar service based on the customer and one denies a particular service to everyone based on the service. In one circumstance the affecting factor is the customer ( not allowed) and the other is the service itself. If YouTube stopped providing a service to people who voted republican then you'd have a point but I'm afraid your aim was off on that one.

Oh wait. Is this conversation about amendments or ammendments? I may be on the wrong thread.

You’re always mistaking logical thinking and good decisions as some liberal agenda. Many right wing companies choose what content is acceptable and what isn’t. I don’t see you complaining about that. YouTube is allowed to remove whatever it wants. Seems like the right has issues when content they agree with is removed. If it were the other way around and liberal content was banned, you’d be supportive.

The Gun Lobby is making huge mistakes, and it is going to come back to haunt them. They don't support banning semi-autos, so mass-shootings are creating a swell to repeal the Second Amendment.

The right is always invoking god and dragging him into all their earthly, trivial issues when it suits them. I don’t particularly believe in a god, but if he did indeed create the universe, I seriously doubt he has time to worry about these idiots and their guns. I’d think god would be busy with, you know, small things like poverty, world hunger, wars and such. But of course Jim Bob’s right to buy a gun takes precedent over these matters because god loves America.

What part of shall not be infringed do you not understand? Any gun law is unconstitutional, IMO.

The hundreds of thousands of lives lost to gun violence, including the innocent babies ruthlessly murdered at Sandy Hook are infinitely more important than an outdated utterance in the constitution.

But, but, but - it just has to be ammendments. :shakehead:

Actually, without ambling thru' an American dictionary, as far as this amateur is concerned, isn't it amazing (& amusing) that out of the vast amount of words beginning "am-", there is only one that I can recall beginning "amm-",
and that word is.......... ammunition.

Coincidence? Or subliminal, just like the author's choice of the word "assault" instead of the more obvious "attack"?
Good grief; most of these guys probably sleep with their AR-15s..... and keep their girlfriends locked up in a gun cabinet. :rotfl:

Mmmmmmm, sexy!
