PharmaBro goes to jail

Sat Mar 10, 2018 8:30 am

The only person in the world who rivals Ted Cruz for the title of "most punchable face," is headed to the slammer for 7yrs.

....but of course, it's not for price gouging a vital HIV drug by several *thousand* percent.
It's for defrauding people richer than him.

Good thing is, this is a federal sentence-- meaning no parole before serving 85% of his time. He won't see the outside until late 2023 at the earliest.

While there is no doubt that he's a huge git, the Daraprim (the drug mentioned as the one that was price hiked) scandal is 100% a product of US drug law - being that its been in medical use for over 65 years now, it's a generic medication costing cents per dose pretty much every where except the US, where federal law allows it to be restricted as a "non-generic" and thus price controlled.

But you don't see *that* being discussed, because it's easier to point the finger at this smug git and claim the issue is all his fault...

Why is it not allowed to be generic? Is it an orphan drug?

What are you talking about? That was discussed EVERYWHERE.

Even FoxNews couldn't completely spin it-- though of course they tried.

But the whole reason he's "a thing" is because the Daraprim debacle made the vulgarities of US drug law open, apparent, and undeniable. His Congressional testimony/antics only furthered that.

Funnily enough, he's also the reason that Cory Booker will likely never be President:
as his refusal to vote for the drug import bill (combined with subsequent discovery that he's the single most paid-off politician, Republican or Democrat, by the pharmaceutical industry) essentially ensures that the Progressive Left will abandon him even more so than they did Hillary, if the Democrats are stupid enough to nominate him-- which of course they are.

He's essentially PharmaBro2.0 to Progressives and healthcare reform advocates.

He doesn't even have it going in.

Everyone's reporting that he cried to the judge after his sentence was handed down, like a little b!tc#.

Exactly, he deserves no mercy just as he gave none to sick people. I would like to punch his face too.
