What do you drink with your dinner?

Mon Feb 26, 2018 12:35 am

Or with any of your daily meals really but dinner came to my mind first. Since this is an international forum I am thinking of your "end of day meal" (I know dinner in many places is the main meal often served more mid-day).

Breakfast: I will almost always have orange juice and if not eating I will just have hot tea.

Lunch/midday: I usually have a soda (Coke) or water. If it's not a business day I often have a beer instead.

Dinner/Supper: I often have wine and sometimes water. Occasionally I will serve up myself a nice cold glass of milk, but that can be filling so I don't do it that often anymore. If I'm eating out it is almost always wine with my meal.

So what do you enjoy?

95% of the time I skip breakfast but I always have a cup of coffee while catching up on work and getting the day started.

With lunch its either nothing or a diet soft drink.

I don't tend to drink anything with dinner unless I'm at a restaurant. In that case I usually go with beer.

Coffee in the morning, doesn't matter if I eat of not.

Lunch and supper will be water most of the time. I'll also have a Glucerna Shake, especially if I wake up in the middle of the night.

Throughout the day I'll sip on coffee, going to decaf at 3 pm, but that is because I have a very dry mouth.

Sadly a nice wine, or any other booze is out because of a strong abdominal pain with just a sip of white win.

OJ or milk for breakfast, water for lunch and water, beer or wine for dinner. Haven't touched a 'light' or 'diet' product in decades; don't fancy the consequences of ingesting aspartam. Don't do 'energy' drinks and don't drink coffee. Might have an occasional cup of tea, heavily laced with rum.

I pretty much drink water most of the time, in the evenings I'll drink a glass of milk, although I'm a sucker for Monster energy drink and will have one several times a week. I don't drink tea or coffee, I rarely drink soda anymore, on Sundays we have orange juice for Sunday breakfast.

Water with every meal. I gave up soft drinks years ago and have not had one since (save for the occasional drink that requires a splash and even then it's unknowingly). I recently gave up orange juice as well. Love it to death, but found that I don't really need it to complete breakfast.

The only drink so far that I've been hooked with is coffee in the morning and mid-afternoon...thank you grad school.

Starting this year, I eliminated all drinks containing sugar, including OJ and cranberry juice. I have also made an attempt to drink more hot drinks or luke warm ones and avoid icy beverages as much as I can (I love ice, so this has been a sacrifice). The reason is that Eastern medicine has always eschewed ingesting cold liquids and foods as it is argued they "cool the cauldron," thereby slowing down the digestive process. Western medicine has begun reporting strong correlations between weight gain and cold beverages. So I thought I'd give it a try.

So...

Breakfast - hot coffee
Lunch - room temperature water
Dinner - wine or water or occasionally almond milk

Lunch - Water or iced tea
Dinner - if I’m working that night, water. Not working - beer.

Lunch is the informal noon meal. Dinner is the noon meal you have at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Supper is supper.

I'm usually sleeping at noon... for me dinner is the last meal that I have at about 3am.

Breakfast: Cooled pre-boiled water. Followed by tea e.g. English breakfast, low fat milk, no sugar.

Lunch (midday lighter meal): Fruit juice - the real ones, not the over-sugared fruit drinks. Or pure coconut water. Or sometimes flavoured milk. I have this thing about Sipahh when it comes to flavoured milks, love the varieties! They also have a long shelf life. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sipahh (Source: Wikipedia, 2017).

Dinner: Herbal tea, or decaffeinated tea (to same as above). Cooled pre-boiled water.

:cheeky:

I've recently started drinking soda water, as it is claimed to be good for digestion.
