"More than 37 children across the country have died during a nasty flu outbreak that is already one of the worst on record, even though the season typically peaks in February."
"But Texas televangelist Gloria Copeland thinks there’s nothing to worry about. In fact, she says she doesn’t believe there’s such a thing as a flu season.
“We got a duck season, a deer season, but we don’t have a flu season,” she said in a video posted to Facebook last week. “And don’t receive it when somebody threatens you with, ‘Everyone’s getting the flu!’ ”

Regardless of what how a lot of people feel, I do get a flu shot yearly, and I have not had the flu since 2005.
Working in the airline business since 2000, you come into many people from all over the world and various countries where you just do not know what virus(s)
people are carrying.
Many people stick their ID or boarding passes in their mouths or just out and out cough all around you .......

Some Catholic churches in the USA are discouraging sipping the wine as part of Communion and to give nods to each other rather than shake hands to discourage passing germs. I guess dipping your hand in the holy water is still safe.

Meanwhile, I've never had a flu shot and I haven't had flu for over 35 years. :scratchchin:

You know you have just tempted fate? I always remember attending a company awards where they were giving awards for no sickness - the 10 year award person couldn’t attend because he had broken his leg.

In Hong Kong all primary schools are closed for a week from yesterday to try and break the Flu a cycle here. This city is paranoid about another SARS like epidemic that saw primary schools here closed for three months

I totally support evangelicals avoiding the flu shot. In fact they should avoid the hospitals, doctors, and medicine altogether because Jesus will provide.

That is, quite frankly, sociopathic behavior.

Not getting sick doesn't mean you're not carrying the virus and potentially infecting those around you, particularly people with certain allergies or other contraindications for being vaccinated themselves.

Why do many religious people seem to think they have to preach to others? I was taught that religion is a private matter. But there are the people who think they are guardians of God (or whatever). They think it's their job to shelter the unborn fetuses. And try to get others to pray like they do. Here's a suggestion to all the holy rollers: Mind your own f*cking business.

I got into a political discussion with a guy online. All of a sudden, he starts talking Jesus talk. I told him that I'm not going to talk religion. He said he wasn't. Wanting to shut him up, "How do you know I'm not a Buddhist?" Sure enough. He assumed I was a Christian and didn't have a comeback. Instead, he called me a crude thing and told me to get the f*ck out of his life. Excuse me?

Of course. There are millions and millions of 'sociopaths' in the UK, apparently.

Isaac Asimov said it best : "I think God would prefer an honest and righteous atheist to a TV preacher whose every word is God, God, God, and whose every deed is foul, foul, foul."

:checkmark:
Here it isn't recommended to get a flu shot unless you are a kid, old or have an otherwise compromised immune system. So most people don't get one.

Best regards
Thomas

Lucky duck. The last flu I had was 18 years ago and I can still remember it as if it were yesterday. I’d never wish that upon my worst enemy.

Getting the shot doesn't mean you don't carry it either, just that you will cope better. I've never had a shot and don't plan to.

Getting a shot is ok for vulnerable populations like elderly people or people with respiratory issues.

For everyone else if you get the flu stay a couple days at home and that's it.

I'm surprised that, this being an aviation forum and all, no one has mentioned the new plane, which "Jesus bought" for the Copelands recently:

http://www.kansascity.com/news/nation-w ... 41759.html

Apparently it is "the plane the Lord had set aside".

It is needed because flying commercial is like:
"Getting in a long tube with a bunch of demons.”

Ha, this guys a lightweight preacher, come back when you get a real plane to spread the word of the Lord.

Star Triple Seven is the fulfillment of a promise that God gave Rev. Angley many years ago. A miracle of God provided the finances for this beautiful Boeing 747SP, and its only missions are to win souls for the Lord." Video of the 747SP from Angley's website.

I concur with Gloria, and add Vitamin C, OJ, Cranberry Juice, and some stuff  that I got from Alex Jones.

I used to think that too, but then I realized that even if I don’t catch the flu (or notice that I’ve been infected), I can transmit the flu to others.

Get your shot. Doing so is effectively joining the army to kill the virus off. Otherwise, you are doing the virus’s work for it.
