Ferry McFerryFace - not what it seems

Tue Jan 30, 2018 10:13 pm

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-n ... the-public

So, the general public in this vote reportedly voted for Ferry McFerryface as the prefered name of a new Ferry.

An FOI document reveals actually that the chosen nonsense name was actually not chosen by the public, but the Minister chose it in a "captains choice" pick, disregarding the vote and then blamed the name on the public. Red faced indeed!

No surprise at all given his character. What is surprising is that he didn't name it after himself.

Anyway, I went for a ride on FERRY McFERRYFACE just the other day to the casino and back and there were quite a few people taking selfies under the name :)

Its a funny name. Get it. They named it like that because its funny. Isn't that so clever and funny they named the object something similar to what it is but just in a funny way!!

Kill me.

Late on Tuesday Constance released a statement saying the ferry would be rechristened May Gibbs. “Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance has today revealed that the final name of the Emerald 6 ferry, branded as Ferry McFerry Face for the summer, will be named after the iconic children’s author,” the statement said.

Constance was quoted as saying: “We always intended this vessel would be named for the kids. After a summer on the harbour, Ferry McFerryface will now be renamed after prominent Australian author May Gibbs. This will retain the vessel’s appeal to our youngest customers while also recognising an Australian icon with a long connection to Sydney.”

This is such bullshit. Keep Ferry McFerryFace. Was really pissed off that I didn't see it on my last visit to Sydney. Please think of the children.

Imagine being that poor captain on the VHF ...

"Port control, this is Fairy McFairy Face looking for docking instructions ... Did you say Fairy McFairy Face? ... Negative, Ferry McFerry Face ... Ok Fairy McFairy Face, here's what you're gonna do..."

And then every single person on Sydney Harbor wets themselves in laughter.

"Mayday mayday mayday, this is Fairy McFairy Face. We're going down on George's Head, repeat, we're going down fast on George's Head! We're going to be swallowed whole(by the ocean)."

I wouldn't run a bucket with a name like that for a million dollars a day.

Please think of the taxpayers who have to put up with government MPs wasting money on this garbage in order to try and win points with the voters. What was the point in holding a public choice if you weren't going to go through with it anyway.

People didn't choose this name, the Minister did, and then lied about it trying to say we chose it! It's more of the example of how stupid politics has become. No real policies anymore, just cynical exercises to win the 24 hour news cycle.

And they wonder why voters are angry?

Politicians need to stay the hell away from humour unless their names are Gough Whitlam, and Paul Keating.
