Shackled siblings found in Perris, CA home

Tue Jan 16, 2018 9:59 am

Two parents have been arrested in California after police found they allegedly kept their 13 children captive at home, some "shackled to their beds with chains and padlocks".

David Allen Turpin, 57, and Louise Anna Turpin, 49, were held on charges of torture and child endangerment.

The couple's children - aged two to 29 - lived in Perris, 59 miles (95km) south-east of Los Angeles.

Officers were alerted by one of the victims, a 17-year-old girl.

The girl - who appeared to be "only 10 years old and slightly emaciated" - on Sunday managed to escape and call the emergency number using a mobile phone found inside the house, the Riverside Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

Disgusting.

That man looks creepy as hell...

I hope the kids never see these vile individuals again and are not too emotionally damaged to reconstruct their lives.

Its all quite bizzar, when you look a the facebook photos they all look like a happy well feed (not american style well feed) somewhat large family, there's comments on the photos from what I guess are family and friends, it looks like the parents snapped and went a bit nuts sometime around 2016.

I do not want any government interference in my house.

I want to raise my children as I see fit.

I will put to death a child that rises its hand against me.

It's all in the Bible.

That alone should have Fox News covering this 24/7, with Fox and Friends crying about how their rights as a family and religious beliefs are being infringed and Hannity blaming this on the gay agenda brought by illegal immigrants enabled by the Clinton-Obama-Reid-Schumer-Pelosi coalition.

Here no one saw something strange or were scared to say something. Yet most of us have heard or seen stories all over the internet where parent(s) were turned in to Child Protective Services for their kids playing alone in their front yards or walking home from school alone and not in danger. It is sorry times we live in.

I cannot imagine me living next door to people like that without becoming aware that something was not right in the house, never mind being related to them. Once again, minding your own business can be harmful to people, especially children. Not in my make up to ignore such strangeness so close and involving children. I watch and am aware of my neighbors children.

Old Testament Christianity is pretty much the same thing as Shariah law, in fact they're just two variations of the same religion.

It is Shariah law. Those loons just managed to hide it pretty well from teh evilz guvermint. In civil law, you can contract with anybody that your civil matters are regulated solely according to your religious laws. That's why we have Christian, Jewish and Muslim courts in Switzerland, and they mainly deal with divorces. (And they still adhere to the secular courts, because only they can dissolve the civil, state-sponsored marriage.)

Mhhh, I don't think so. Old testament christianity is Judaism. Out of it evolved Christianity. Out of it evolved Islam. But as those torturers are proving, you can also make a debasing, inhumane Sharia law out of Protestantism, which is even more modern than Islam.

In the end, religious freedom must not only mean the right to exercise your beliefs, but also the right not to be impacted by somebody else's beliefs. Those young people have a right not to live according to their parents' beliefs. And anyway, as soon as they have a certain age, their opinion must be heard (e.g. in medical treatments). When they are 18, they are free to walk out.

But why did the adult children not walk out? Many sects make you believe that there is no safety outside. We are giving you all the safety you need.

I'm thinking that this may have been a fairly recent development. IIRC, the family photos on Facebook were dated 2016 and they looked fairly normal (or as normal as any large family where the kids are all dressed identically and have bad haircuts can look).

It's a very difficult situation and one where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. We have neighbours we socialise with but we also have other neighbours that we hardly ever even see. For all I know, they could have their kids locked in the basement.

But, I will concede, if you know the family across the road has 13 kids and you never see them coming or going or even playing, that would seem pretty odd. Even then, on the rare occasions you did see them and the kids are all identically dressed, I suspect your reaction might be "Oh look, Dear. The odd hermit family is having a day out!"

These three religions are descended from the Tanakh, specifically Islam uses almost word for word the first five books: the Torah. They all three accept Abraham as the founder.

The most defining thing about the Abrahamic religions is the "thou shall have no Gods before me" command, which has been the cause of so much trouble. Hundreds of years before Christ, Jews were already murdering other Jews because they deviated from strict interpretations of the Tanakh. While a few other religions have had their fringe nutcases, no other religion has a built in concept of an infidel.

If you study comparative religion, the Abrahamic religions stand out like a sore thumb.

My thoughts as well, they all looked pretty happy at DisneyLand and in the other photos on there FB page.

It was reported that the father was an engineer at Northrup Grumman and had worked for Lockheed in the past. I wonder what his coworkers thought of him? At every place I have ever worked at people tend to talk about their lives and their kids. He probably wasn't very social at work.
