Very suprised Trump approved this. What could this mean?

Could this further erode US-Russia relations?

It means that companies in the US will make a lot of money. At the same time, it will allow the Ukrainian to defend themselves. The Russians will not be happy with the deal.

You think US companies will make "a lot of money" off of a few javelin and TOW missiles?

Yea, right.

Cool. Looks like the rebels will be getting some new toys as soon as the Ukranians sell/give them away.

For context, even Obama refused to arm the Ukrainians, because he believed that this action would directly lead to military conflict between Russia and the US.

Here is how I understand this: Previously, US arms deals were cleared based on strategic interests. In the Trump Presidency, arms deals are cleared based on purely commercial considerations. US arms companies make money=more jobs in the American economy.

And which if it leads to more war (like with Russia) the USA can sell even MORE arms. An all round good deal it appears.

Because it doesn't matter. The sales won't be large enough to significantly change the balance of power. Trump has something to point to "see, no collusion!" And the word keeps on turning.

It's not like they get high end mining capabilities to mine Sevastopol, which would of course be ok to do for Ukraine.

Best regards

Yes. And it also means that some Ukraine officials (maybe president, maybe PM, may as well be the head of National Security and Defense Council - mr. Turchinov) make some money off re-selling these Javelins. I am sure they have had customers for them for a while, hence this persistence over the years. Ukrainian military doesn’t get anything that’s of any monetary value.

Not only rebels - could be anybody. Ukrainians have shown to be not picky whom to trade arms with.
