So that's what I thought from the beginning, the sub was snorkeling and took on water. Wouldn't it have been prudent to just surface at that point ?

Will there be an attempt to recover the sub in a similar manner to the Kursk? Or is it because the Kursk had nuclear weapons on it the reason it was recovered?

Either way, RIP to the crew and my condolences to their families, friends, and peoe of Argentina.

The Kursk was in fairly shallow water (350 ft), this one was most likely past the continental shelf when it went down.

Another stimulus for the Kursk recovery seems to have been the belief that the USN had sank it, they were hoping to find something to prove that.
