Ok, you can call it what you like. The rest of the world is calling it correctly: annexation.

So to which time would you like to go back? Perhaps my hometown Utrecht can be annexed by Italy again, they founded it so I guess it is rightfully theirs.

But your example is ridiculous, Utrecht isn’t remotely close to Italy and you don’t speak Italian, ditto for the other idiots Spainish claim, not close not shared border, language, ethnicity or history, something which cannot be said of South Tyrol and Austria, Flanders and Netherlands or Crimea and Russia.

Indeed it is ridiculous and so is your total disregard for international law and order. Just go back to the middle ages, the right of the strong.

I will not surrender to that barbaric point of view, sorry.

A little bit worried by the talks here. So if tomorrow France decides to attack and invade Switzerland to annex the french talking and french mentality part of Switzerland, that's ok? Or Italy to annex Ticino because the people are talking Italian there and have more an Italian mentality than a Swiss one, that is getting O.K.? Back to the middle age.

Or just the fun of writing in a forum. :-)

You very well may be correct. This is exactly what happened in Kosovo - for the past 100 years birth rates in Albanian communities were much greater than those in Serbian. You know the result - dominantly Albanian population, with independence claims. Same in Germany, if they continue having 0.5 kids per woman - one not so wonderful night they will wake up in a Turkish province.

The “world” consists of many people and many nations. Who and where is calling that “annexation”? It’s predominant point of view among Western elites, but that’s pretty much it. Nobody else really considers Crimea polls and subsequent joining Russian Federation “annexation” of some sort. Except Ukraine of course, but it’s due to their own actions.

Now imagine that some screwed up dudes in The Hague arrange an armed coup and seize the power, illegally of course. And 90% of your hometown population will want to join Italy (or any neighboring state that can protect them, be it France or Germany maybe). Are you gonna still call that “annexation” or “occupation”?

Western world?
"Ukraine and many world leaders condemned the annexation and consider it to be a violation of international law and Russian-signed agreements safeguarding territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Agreement on Establishing the Commonwealth of Independent States in 1991, Helsinki Accords, Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances of 1994 and Treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between the Russian Federation and Ukraine."

"Afghanistan, Cuba, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Nicaragua, Sudan, Syria, and Zimbabwe have recognised the result of the 2014 referendum in Crimea."

Not the western world, but the whole world except a view countries.

Now for the "coup" in Kiev, the people protested because they wanted an association thready with the EU and Putin said "no". 90% is of the illigal, illegitemate referendum number, that is fake, so why bring that up? I said it many times before, if there is a truly free referendum, properly supervised by the international community and the outcome is 2/3 in favour, I have no problem with that. Breaching international law and a number of other international treadies, I have a problem, especially since this is not the first time Russia has done this in the recent past and this must stop.

Now imagine this, Siberia wants to secrete from the Russian Federation. They organize such a referendum, 90% of them say "yes", what response would Russia have? Well we know actually, since this has happened (not in Siberia) in the past and Russia went to war.
