Out of the 718 British flight attendants surveyed, nearly 90 percent of them admitted to breaking a rule or two while on duty. One in five even said that they had sexual relations with a coworker, while 14 percent reported doing it with a passenger.

It seems hard to believe, but they say it is a poll of 718 which would make it pretty valid.

How they hell do they even verify this? Many of those FA's could just be shitting you for a good laugh!

In seriousness, I think they mean while they are on tour of duty ie: while away from home. If they fly up to LAX and overnight before returning, they mean they have hooked up with a passenger they met inflight or a crew that is staying with them in the same hotel anyway. I don't think it is unusual to BA either. If you try tinder near the airport or airport hotel, you will see how many of the profiles are cabin crew.

Apparently the mile-high club is less exclusive than we thought...

I could see an occasional flight attendant hooking up with a passenger at the crew hotel after the flight, but the thought that 14% are having sexual relations during a flight sounds outlandish. Where on the aircraft would they be having sex without being detected? (As an aside, I once took a 744 CX flight from LAX to HKG on which there were only 58 passengers - about ten in economy. I had the entire back of the plane to myself and I suppose I could have had a major orgy undetected, but an empty international flight seems unlikely these days)

BA are one of the worst for this. I know it from a prior experience but is it 14% I highly doubt that.

In AA's defence there was a few senior crew on my AKL-LAX, but good looking to say the least.

TerminalD you might want to be aware that the article makes NO mention of "British Airways". The article states that they have interviewed 718 British (based, or nationality we don't know) F/As. Period.
I strongly suggest you edit the title of the thread.

I am the first to bash BA when it comes to the (poor) service levels they provide nowadays, but frankly I find this article is somewhat insulting and very clicheed.

Interesting how everyone (presumably not having even remotely scanned the actual article) immediately jump on the wagon to bash the poor BA F/As.....

Read what is written, not what you think has been said.

b: customer
you get an answer over their work life looking back.

you have zero information on how often they did it.

Now think about frequency:
Assume for starters the minimum that allows a positive answer:
one meat up
How many flight, how many pax does an FA meet over its active work life?

you'll find that the average FA has less intercourse during work than most any nuns

Well.... if we are to go by experience, the only time I've had any.... encounter with a FA was on an AA flight from JFK to ZRH. And although I got a phone number from a BA FA it never went beyond that...

Long before Tinder, there were the myths and stories of flight attendants and pilots or passengers who got together sexually. I wonder too if some f/a's are prostitutes due to low pay and opportunity as not in their home town.
As to in-flight contacts, it is likely very rare as f/a's are too busy or too tired to likely do much of anything. It would also be company policy to prevent lawsuits and hassles as well as personal safety for staff to not to give out personal information to customers. F/A's are critically needed if something goes wrong during a flight so sexual behaviors would like be a fireable offense. Off duty many live in 'group' arrangements that may mean opportunity on one hand but no privacy on the other.
Of course we must include likely same-gender sexual contacts. This 'survey' may include leisure airlines. I would also be concerned about the risks of STD's, privacy risks, risks of nut cases from being sexually active in such a way.

I'm pretty sure that there's no more lying than in polls about sexual behaviour. If you would do a poll "Have you ever slept with the president?", then there'd be at least 5 % answering with "Yes". And even Trump can't have been that busy.

20% with a fellow employee, 14% with a passenger doesn't result in 34% as it is likely that the vast majority in the 14% group were also in the 20% group.

It's good to know that 86% wait for the plane to land.

Just break down the results of the participants by age and sex, and I'll be happy.
