Nealy 400,000 Gallons of Crude Spill Into Gulf of Mexico

Wed Oct 18, 2017 11:27 am

Looks like this might be the largest spill (having been many smaller ones in the meantime) since 2010's Deepwater Horizon catastrophe. Only 7 years have past and we're looking at another major disaster that seems to be almost unreported by major news networks.... Looks like an underwater pipe rupture and no reports of the oil reaching the shoreline.

Thoughts and prayers for those affected.

Yes...I'm being sarcastic.

Who cares at this point? The Gulf of Mexico is basically a pool of oil at this point.

Maybe because it is a United States incident? Or it is such a common occurrence here it is not worth broadcasting?

But these pipes are so safe, why are people all upset? That is what we were told about Keystone, right? They don't break and they don't leak.

No foreigners involved that could be squeezed for "compensation". So, no hysteria. under rug, rinse, repeat.

I think we should solve this problem once and for all. Exterminate all humans.

While that would probably allow Earth to eventually be restored, how about having strict regulations and a penalty system where cutting corners is punishable with a yuuge fine? I remember when BP had its spill, people everywhere were crying about how badly BP was being treated and how unfair it was to fine the oil giant...but if you read a case study of what happened, cutting corners and ineptitude allowed the "accident" to happen.

To put it in perspective, it's like placing a guy who only finished ground flight school to be the captain of an A380.

I have been out of work for the past week with the fires around here so I don't know if this crude spill is related to the platform explosion in Lake Ponchetrain or not. We have not have any real news other than we lost about 1/3 of our homes.

Fear not, Nature and the Almighty will take care of it. Ask the Trump Henchmen and the Oil Execs. Drill baby drill. :sarcastic: :sarcastic:
