The Senate seat is Roy Moore's if he can show proof that God actually told him so.

It will end many theological debates once and for all. :old:

AL officials have certified Doug Jones as the winner of the special election and he will be sworn in as planned on January 3.

Moore's last minute appeal was denied.

Question is: what is Moore's next move? Will he show up in the Senate on swearing-in day?

No, silly Rabbit, he'll just go the Mall . . .

Jones won the election just as Trump did. I would hope all would move on.

So now that this crazy old coot is officially yesterday's news and will return to the oblivion from whence he came, I'd suggest to the mods that this topic be locked.

How about you let the thread die in peace instead of locking it?

Yes, the election is over; yes, Jones won and has been certified. However, until Jones takes his seat or Moore concedes, this thread can still go places.

If history is any guide, Moore is unlikely to concede. He didn’t concede two races for Governor in the mid aughts. Crazy Uncle Roy, the delusional zealot that he is, is unlikely to concede defeat because in his addled mind the only way God gets his way is if he does. And as such he can’t concede.

Jones has the certification and IMO should be sworn in tomorrow. That totally shuts Moore down, something that is needed

Only trolling. Like the tax reform thread which is now moot since it passed it's still a place for people to vent. :praise:

In another news...

Roy Moore and his wife said they even have a Jewish friend - their lawyer, Mr. Jaffe.

Turns he is a long-standing friend of Doug Jones and he helped raise money for the Democratic campaign.............

Yes, I hope the next time I hear about him, he’ll be 6 feet under. Now that may sound harsh, but these men who seek power to turn back time are extremely dangerous.

Take religion out of the mix and pretend he was raised in NYC. He may be a decent man, but with surrounded by years of the southern “culture” his mind is out the door.

Turns out a lawsuit has been filed for defamation.

But by one of the accusers against Roy Moore.

More Hush Money, Roy Moore Edition. (Moore Hush Money?)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/investig ... df8a017973

Days after a woman accused U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual impropriety, two Moore supporters approached her attorney with an unusual request.

They asked lawyer Eddie Sexton to drop the woman as a client and say publicly that he did not believe her. The damaging statement would be given to Breitbart News, then run by former White House strategist Stephen K. Bannon.

In exchange, Sexton said in recent interviews, the men offered to pay him $10,000 and promised to introduce him to Bannon and others in the nation’s capital. Parts of Sexton’s account are supported by recorded phone conversations, text messages and people in whom he confided at the time.

[. . .]

Sexton was initially reluctant to talk publicly about the alleged offer, because the men — Lantrip and Bert Davi, business partners in a small construction firm — are his clients in an unrelated court case, a dispute over a real estate venture. Sexton decided to speak publicly after repeated requests over months from Post reporters, who contacted him after obtaining one of the recordings.
