New York....1900....in color !

Sat Aug 05, 2017 4:59 pm

I know it's not real color, but it does make it feel as if you were there. Buildings that tall way back then...but no airplanes! LOL :bouncy:

That was great, simpler and slower times but harder i bet. Is there a software that colors the pics?

Most of the pics are fake. Apparently many of them were shot at movie studios. If you look at the pic at 1:00, at the far right there is a guy in blue jeans wearing a baseball cap backwards, lol.

Hmmmm . . . . I wouldn't be so sure about "most". The one you mentioned is for sure (even the hairstyle of the woman on the left looks more modern that what would have been worn 120 years ago), but as you progress through the video, most of them are clearly from that era (buildings and transport, etc). I wondered about the first pic, as the plants seem to have plastic or some sort of synthetic material around them, but I would say most are genuine. I've seen the pic of the crashed car before:

I think a lot of those photos are colorized versions of actual photos. There are a lot of them that only have some color and the rest of the photo is black and white.

At least one of those photos is not from New York, it's Detroit. The picture at 3:51 is the steamer Tashmoo, which was a steamer on the great lakes. It was built in Wyandotte, Michigan and usually ran between Detroit and Port Huron.

Where does it say it happened in 1900? The dates in the beginning of the video state 1900-1919.
