Cronuts

Mon Jul 03, 2017 4:38 pm

So what do people think of the cronut, they're just arrived in my wee corner of Norway. If you don't know what they are, a cronut is a croissant-doughnut pastry invented by French pastry chef Dominique Ansel of Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York. They are great!!

They are phenomenal. What is that one covered with? I normally see them covered only with sugar or icing. That one looks like caramel, which would make it 100x more delicious.

It's caramel, the frenchy who invented these needs a statue or something like that.

It has not yet reached my corner of France (or France altogether, I don't know). I don't expect most French bakeries to even have a frier.

Looks like it has double the calories of a croissant, which isn't that great for you already. With that much fat and sugar, it has to be good !

I've always been a big fan of the traditional New Zealand style cream filled donut. Why have a round one when it can be long and filled with cream!!!

Lord. I need to find me one like that... or make one. Get one of the sugar-covered ones at the grocery store and make my own caramel topping.

You do know that someone has already invented the cronut burger?

(in the USA natch....as the science of all things burger is truly an art form there)

Hey guys,
Cronuts have been sold in the McCafe section of McDonalds here in Australia for quite a few months now.
The two I have tried were just okay - nothing special.
Krispy Kremes are the only donutty-things worth going gaga over - the Nutella ones available here at the moment are amazing!
Cheers,
Bunumuring.

I am deeply embarrassed to say I have never tried one. Wow!! They look tasty!
