Queen at Knebworth. 1986 and the last date of the Magic Tour.

120,000 Queen fans which dwarfed the two nights at the old Wembley Stadium. Harvey Goldsmith put Knebworth on as ticket sales for Wembley had been colossal.

Freddie's last ever appearance on stage, and John Deacon launched his bass through the speakers of his bass rig!

To the loss of music, it was never properly recorded like Wembley was. This was the last time the world was to see the brilliant, theatrical and bombastic performance onstage of Freddie Mercury.

I'll add one to the mix

2011 AC/DC the River Plate Stadium, Buenos Aires. Available on DVD which shows what a totally rapturous crowd they drew. 200,000 over 3 nights. This was the band with the classic lineup and they were on form with a full visuals setup.

Certainly better than some tedious bloody "rappers"!!!!

On that list there's one I'd pay $1000 to see, the Ziggy Stardust tour. And to be a toddler again and get a life do-over. Make it $10,000.

I saw Radiohead in 2001 in Montreal outdoors in Parc du Jean Drapeau, surely that would have to be a top concert of theirs. A magical day.

Led Zeppelin were at a peak in 1972.

The B.B. King show at Cook County Jail sounds pretty interesting.

If you watch any of the Queen live vidoes Freddie did that on stage at every concert they ever played, some people dare suggest Mick is a better frontman than Freddie, they just don't know what they are talking about.

As for modern frontmen Dave Grohl is about as good as we get today, he's freaking awesome!!!!

I agree. I wish I'd seen them in '77, but I was a flat broke college student, and I had already financed going to 3 Led Zeppelin shows that year. The LZ Houston & Ft. Worth shows were well worth it. But I still wish I'd seen the Animals show!!!

GnR were absolutely brilliant as guests at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert too.

One epic moment of that day....when Elton John and Axl Rose did Bohemian Rhapsody. Axl totally got it right; he ripped the stage up then duetted with Elton on the final part of it.

Later on, Brian May has frequently said that Axl's performance came closest to Freddie's vision of the song.

This concert too is a moment in concert history. The guest list was amazing and if you ever get chance to watch the Blu-Ray full version, the early bands are pretty amazing too.How the crowd ached for Freddie's presence on that stage....

There were great moments in that show for sure - Daltrey doing "I Want it All," Elton just killing it on "Show Must Go On" and Joe Elliot and Slash on "Tie Your Mother Down" to name a few. But there were some duds too - as much as I loved Bowie, his duet with Annie Lennox on "Under Pressure" missed the mark and Robert Plant doing "Crazy Little Thing" was underwhelming at best.

My best shows ever where the 2002 Yes "Full Circle" tour ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Y ... 2%80%9310s)#Full_Circle_Tour ) where I got to see two shows in the US and one in the UK. I was too young/poor to see them in the 70s. I saw several shows on this tour and it was the closest I'll ever get to seeing my favorite band with most of its classic performers together, and they were doing all the 70s stuff. I was at the 35th anniversary show that ended up being filmed ( https://www.amazon.com/Songs-Tsongas-An ... rt-Blu-ray ) but the set list and the performances weren't as good.

It's a matter of personal preference. Those years were the peak of the Pigpen era. 1977 was during the Terrapin era. I'm lukewarm about the Pigpen era, and love the Terrapin era.

Saw him during the Couldn't Stand the Weather tour ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Couldn%27 ... ather_Tour ) on July 27, 1984 for the "Summer Jam" in New Britian CT. Believe it or not, Charlie Daniels was the headline act and Gregg Allman the 2nd. It was outdoors and it poured so they put CDB on first to keep the fans happy, then Allman then SRV. I was there for SRV and not many others stayed. He played a long set since the other bands did short sets and left. It was an awesome show! He did all the Hendrix antics during Voodo Chile.

Musically you are correct, but the Wall was their height of popularity and by then they were doing what was then considered a revolutionary live show. That tour was the only one on the RS list that I (a) had the interest in and (b) was realistically able to attend, but it sold out in nanoseconds and I didn't have the finances back then to pay scalper rates. In retrospect I don't think it would have been life changing, and I would have preferred to have a shot at the 77 tour, but I do regret missing it.

U2 'Zoo Tv' @ Sydney Football Stadium (was recorded and released on VHS/DVD/Bluray), approx. 90s???
followed by
INXS 'Calling All Nations' @ Sydney Entertainment Centre, approx. 1988

Best concert I have seen on DVD/Bluray was
U2 'Live in Paris' 2016
followed by
Deacon Blue 'Live in Glasgow Barrowlands' 2017

Honourable mentions must go to live concerts I have seen by Boom Crash Opera & Kids in the Kitchen, John Mellencamp and Annie Lennox.

On a tangent, least enjoyable concert was
Steve Winwood 'Roll With It' @ Sydney Entertainment Centre in the 1990s - a mate of mine there with me fell asleep during one of the overlong prog rock solos....

Most disappointing concerts I have seen live were
Paul McCartney @ Parramatta Stadium sometime in the 1990s (bad sound, bad song choice but the bag pipes were cool)
Madonna @ Sydney Cricket Ground sometime in the 1990s (way overpriced, bad sound, too far away, poor singing, no audience engagement)
Adele @ ANZ Stadium this year (just didn't suit her I reckon)

Most 'missed' concerts were
George Michael 'Faith' @ Sydney Entertainment Centre in 1988 - he cancelled it due to a throat infection and didn't reschedule... I still regret not seeing him live!
INXS 'Don't Lose Your Head' - cancelled concert tour due to the tragic death of Michael Hutchence... I still have the unused tickets

Roger Waters, The Wall. O2 arena, London.

Fans went nuts when David Gilmour repaid a favour to Roger Waters and performed Comfortably Numb. Later they were joined by drummer Nick Mason to perform "outside the wall"; the three surviving Pink Floyd members back together.

While it's another typical list, nice to see "On with the Show" with Fleetwood Mac 2014-2015 on the list. There was just something totally awesome about seeing Christine McVie on stage with the band after 16 years.

That being said, for me, I'd add "The Dance" - Fleetwood Mac tour in 1997.

Other memorable shows-
Roger Waters The Wall tour was amazing, especially the Quebec City show in 2012 when he built an entire wall across the Plains of Abraham.

1999 - Bruce Hornsby, Shawn Colvin, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne and David Lindley all went on the road together forming a jam band playing each other's songs. Chicago show was amazing, starting at 7pm and going nonstop until 1130p.

Stevie Nicks - Enchanted 1998 - was damn awesome, too.
