Companies urging Trump to comply to Paris agreement

Tue May 09, 2017 5:49 pm

Interesting, companies are environmental conscious than the Trump administration. They are right of course, the question what is the Trump administration going to do about it.

Good message. Surprisingly few corporate sponsors.

Also rather surprising, when you dig into the website, that they apparently have gotten some grant money from a couple of Federal agencies.

I'd guess that won't happen this next year.

Probably not, probably nothing it will happen during the Trump administration. As long as the nay-sayers are in the White House, America will turn its back on the rest of the word for the environment.

Apple's participation in this would definitely be attacked, especially since they have piles of money sitting outside US that's inaccessible to the US tax man.

This isn't about taxes, this is about saving the planet.

Trump supporters won't give a damn - if there's something that can delegitimize an opponent they'll use it.

The planet will be absolutely fine, its the people who will start to find it difficult. The planet doesn't care if the crops don't grow, the farmers do. The planet doesn't care if the low lying land floods, the people who live there do, the planet doesn't care if the aquifer dries up, thirsty people do.

True, the problem is that it will be at least disruptive for mankind or it might be catastrophic.

Overstatement. The White House is nowhere near the totality of America and cannot control the actions of Americans or, even, the Congress.

No doubt they can be a hindrance.

- Food is cheaper and more abundant than at any point in human history.
- Insurance claims caused by weather disasters are generally flat when normalized to population growth, and decreasing when normalized to GDP growth.
- Places in "drought conditions" like California have so much water reserved that they have the luxury of flushing it down the rivers to sustain local species of perch.

Simply put, the evidence of impending climate doom are just not to be found. The idea that our planet (or the people on it) need saving and that a bunch of bureaucrats meeting in Paris devised a plan to do so is just farcical.

Hope you don't live in a coastal city or anywhere in the coastal plains of North America (or the world).

I hope he does. Why should anyone else suffer, but those that live in denial?
